Have you ever donated to a charity? There is the option to remain anonymous. If Prince chose to remain anonymous, perhaps they are simply respecting his wishes.

The confirmed news is his #YesWeCode program should be secure for a while.

If it was truly an anonymous donation, no one will ever know for sure. The closest you could come would be to pull some verification out of the 990, but their 2015 submission is not yet available publicly (they may have filed an extension).

I don't know, perhaps Van Jones was referencing this gift when he talked about all the programs Prince supported. I thought he was talking about work of the defunct foundation, but maybe this is that gift?

It would have been a cash donation. No estate gift. No pledged gift. The media release was last year on July 14. That is an incredible gift and whoever the donor might be, it is good that programs like #YesWeCode and all the other programs Prince cared about are funded.

Such a heart... Perhaps if he'd lived, he and PP would have become part of the university performing arts program. He could have been part of a teaching team to introduce and cultivate performing arts in children, youths, young adults and other community people.

There would be a memorial exhibit that could be a source of sustaining revenue, but the rest of complex could be a school for children and people at all levels. University to grade school. All backgrounds, but especially economically disadvantaged children and youths. Camps, seminars in all the performing arts areas, creation, production, performing, business, even philanthropy and the arts. The opportunities are as big as Prince's heart.

It has been the site for community groups like The Red Blood Theater. Likely there are others. Is Kirk Johnson back and managing again? He needs to be there. And the others who worked with him to manage the facility.

Be like Prince.

Think big.

Very big.

I doubt it, for several reasons. That scale of donation hasn't been Prince's style. The donor is described as an East Bay resident in 2015. And Van Jones wouldn't have been quiet about all the other $$ (while trumpeting YesWeCode etc.).

That said, anything is of course possible.
