Let the discussion begin I mean nobody and I mean nobody could get away with this but Prince and the damn song is a straight up JAM!!!! I wonder how Lisa felt singing it?
I love the 86 birthday concert where he says enough of this tame shit who wants some Head.
My favorite Live version of Head on the Dirty Mind tour so funky And i agree only Prince could do a song like this thankyou Prince. Am sure Lisa did not mind and don't think she has said otherwise in any interviews but i could be wrong. |

I don't know but I know Prince himself didn't like DJs to play this song in his presence. IIRC, he had the DJ "stop, just stop" the song whenit came on within the last six months.
That said, I'll always have a place in my heart for that track, I consider it one of the seminal tracks from the Minneapolis sound. |

It is such a great track and I know he matured and changed, but I dont know why he was ashamed of it I mean the stuff played today is 100 times worse than Head |

This is one of his studio version only songs...
I've heard it many times live but none ever seem to have the punch and bit of the album version. This is boot only though...I think I might feel differently if I had personally heard it live at a venue. |

U just...grow up a bit. I'm not ashamed of the day I sat in the bed of a p/u truck, barreling down the freeway, when I was 22 sipping out of a bottle of tangueray... But I don't see myself doing this again in any conditions. I'm just not there anymore, but not am I ashamed that it happened...inwas 22 w/ no kids or wife to worry of. |

I doubt Lisa minded singing the song. She seems like she's always been open-minded about things. Love is God,

No way. It's one of his best live songs ever. Go to Youtube and look for the live version from Detroit. And it was also incredible on the Controversy tour. He screwed it up on the Lovesexy tour though. |

There is also a brilliant video of a 1982 live version (at the Capital theatre). And another, recently uploaded, from 1981 live in New York. The last one has just been uploaded and it's really hot! Life Matters |

Head is my jam! It makes me want to dance and I love the performance from his birthday show in '86. I have never wanted to be a mic/mic stand so badly in my life Forever In My Life, forever in my heart. I love you Prince Rogers Nelson |

Nice I think that 1981 one is from the Roxy. That entire show is on Youtube or at least was a few days ago. I downloaded it. This new upload may be better quality..not sure but I'm watching it now and talk about classic P concert footage!
.
My another great version is from the Houston Controversy tour show. I'm sure not that different from the others around that time period, but I have that on VHS somewhere nad is probably on Youtube somewhere. |
