In 1988 I was into all kinds of music, rap, r&b,pop, what ever was popular
Prince was not popular among my friends, so I made sure my friends didn't see this lol
But at the time I wasn't a fan of the cover my self lol
Cant believe my purple psychedelic pimp slap pimp2

I thought he looked beautiful, the way his hair was blowing in the wind and all. It wasn't until my sister and others saw it that I thought others may find it odd lol.

Did you order a pizza ma'am? Prince- UTCM

Never gave it a second thought until I came onto the org and saw folks talking about it being some kind of big deal.

But then Europeans are usually more broad-minded. I don't think it was such a big thing over here compared to America.

Exactly. I never thought there was anything wrong about it, never heard anyone laugh at or recoil from it, never experienced any kind of embarrassment buying it myself or selling it when I worked in record shops around the UK. It was simply Prince. I thought the flower was nicely positioned and his hair looked nice. And I thought the record was fucking amazing.

I was young and foolish. Thought he was so ugly in that picture.

Fortunately I matured into a grown woman with more appreciation for the beauty of this man. Looking at it now I'm wondering what on earth was wrong with me.. He's absolutely gorgeous.

I needed glasses back then. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it. cool lol lol lol

I loved it. It had something ethereal and pure about it. Reminded me of the Garden of Eden. Nudity was never really a problem in France, the coast where I went on holiday was full of naturist beaches. So totally normal for me to see that - not so revealing - cover. Dirty mind however, was more of an embarrassment, I was still young when I purchased it and I felt like I was holding a "dirty" magazine. lol

Back then? I was in my 20s and clueless about a lot of things.
I didn't think the picture looked very good and was entirely unaware of Prince's beauty, or of real beauty of any kind, for that matter.

Was it a normal laugh, a laugh of delight or a nervous laugh?

Wait...I had a shirt/leggings/ my parents had a sofa that looks just like this background!

Why is he hiding his nipple?

He's going to say something important about stamens and pistils now. Pay attention!

[I was far too young to be let into a record store by myself, so I saw this much later.]

I have to admit I was not overly excited with the cover and thought "what the heck?" but it doesnt bother me - I am not a fan of the one long track though as my Aussie disc has it. biggrin

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

since it was the first album i ever bought, saving up my pocket money,
i guess i didn't know better lol i think my dad would have had a thing
or two to say about it, if i'd asked for his oppinion - as he'd driven me
to the recordstore falloff but i didn't ask and he just looked like 'sigh'

lol

i do remember that i didn't think it weird or sexual or anything like that.
mind you, i was 10 years old, lol. i just thought it was a cool visual and
it somehow worked very well with the music. come to think of it i don't
think my mother or brother had anything to say about it either. my mom
just put the cd in the player (i didn't have a cd player of my own) and
that was it.

about a month later everyone in the house was humming along to the
songs.

years later i had one of those wall mounted cd racks, where you could
put the cd's in so the covers would face you. i made it all prince, fcuz.
and then family came over and their kids came upstairs to my room n
went downstairs all "he has a naked man on his bedroom wall!!!! eww!"

falloff

I was extremely disappointed when I saw it. There used to be a radio show called "Radioscope" that had all the latest R&B music news. Weeks before the album was released, they reported that the upcoming Prince album was going to have Prince completely nude on the cover and that some of the record stores were even considering having it covered in a plain brown wrapper when they put it on the shelves. Well, when it finally was released and I went to the record store, it wasn't in a plain brown wrapper because even though Prince was nude, you couldn't see anything. Hell, what's the point of posing nude if you aren't going to show the dick? I kept staring at the picture in the area where his leg was but couldn't see a damn thing. Hell, I got a bigger thrill looking at the "Dirty Mind" album cover. At least you could see pubes on that one. evillol

I was young when I started listening to P. I would always be at the record or music stores when I was a kid, especially if my parents were off in another boring store. I remember going through the P second and coming across Prince. I saw this and I was like shocked Well now that I'm older, a lot older LOL it's more like lick
