LOLOL. People love to give Mayte a hard time for seemingly never getting over Prince, but what woman could be with him for any length of time and NOT be sprung on him. Shiddd. I'd probably be doing whatever he said, even if I didn't agree just by looking at this .gif. Prince had the ju-ju. No wonder his exes never had anything TOO harsh to say about him. Anna Fantastic said she still had her pink cashmere coat, Mani had Eric Benet paying tribute to him, Carmen Electra was in tears, Troy Byer and Mayte were taking selfies together---Prince Nelson would put a spell on you, honey. Ya now, it's interesting that you posted this cuz, after watching and listening to P all day, I've been thinking... I liked V when she & P were together, but quickly dismissed her once they broke up. Today I watched them together and vaguely wondered about her and the dynamics of the other love interests over the years. Then something occurred to me. V wasn't submissive. I think everyone assumes that P was a dominant because he was so sexually expressive, but I get a distinct submissive vibe from him. I think V was the sexual aggressor and once they broke up, he tried to replace that but was choosing women who were submissive in nature, the most notable being Mayte. In that case I think he really got caught out there in love and the baby, etc which made it all worse. I think maybe Manuela was closer, but even if she was dominant, I think the combination of his head not being able to deal with a relationship after M, etc, plus him possibly not wanting kids after the losses of the babies with M... What do y'all think? Honestly, I never viewed Mayte as submissive. I just think that the public naturally assumed this because of the details of their circumstance. P was already 15 years older than her--and she was his back-up dancer--it was literally her job to stand back and complement him. P also gave her lot of creative freedom. She had a hand in choreographing their numerous routines, he screened his music with her, and even showed her how to operate equipment in the recording studio. I mean, 22-year-old Mayte had NO problem getting on national television next to Prince and saying the when their relationship shifted to a romantic one that it was kind of 'weird' LOLOLOL. (Oprah interview). I got the feeling that she was HIS emotional protector, and he was more of her physical protector. The guy used to take her on stage with him just to present awards (George Clinton), and do television interviews (Sinbad and GMA with Bryant Gumbel). She didn't even speak during those appearances but her presence was his security blanket. She said on Periscope that P was highly sensitive. I think sometimes she just wanted to soothe his emotions at the expense of being viewed as submissive. She has always come across as a genuine sweetheart to me. I often wonder what people think she could have done to 'appear' more assertive. P was the star of the show, not Mayte. Same goes for Mani. I think I've heard Mani's voice maybe once...and that was when she met with Mayte on the reality show. It just came with the territory. Mayte was a younger, belly-dancing Scorpio...she just may have been more sexually aggressive than P, but I'm sure he was very protective over how she was portrayed as well. | |
