Cindy C Last nite I listened to the Black Album for the first time in a very long time. The song that particularly stood out this turn was 'Cindy C'. All of a sudden I noticed what an intense song it is:
* the long guitar-solo on the background of the song - this is on fucking cool solo! If you concentrate on it, it will thrill you. * the vocals & lyrics- especially the stuff that is not sung. What was his motivation to write such a song about Cindy Crawford? Listen to the desperation in his voice ('What's the matter with me Cindy, don't you want to play with me?') Did Cindy Crawford ever react on this song (I'm sure she wasn't too pleased)? These are pretty harsh lyrics, pretty straight-forward. * the rap, was it Sheila? * the horns, great work by Eric & Atlanta Did Prince ever perform this song live? To me this is the best song of the Black Album, what do you think?

I think this song is great too.
From what I've read, when Cindy has been asked about this song, she doesn't seem very thrilled by it. I don't know if her response stems completely from the lyrics/tone of the song itself, or as a result of an alleged encounter with Prince that she had at a nightclub once wherein she didn't appreciate his attitude towards her. The rap on the song is Cat. Don't know if P's ever performed this song live...

One of my favourite P tracks!!!
The hornz - GOD, the hornz!!! And - this is probably going to sound really strange - but you know when a certain sound/beat/whatever, as brief as it may be, just HITS you? It's about 7 seconds in; that bit when the bass creeps in and sorta goes BOODA BOODA. (Christ, I sound crazy ). Every time I hear that bit, I know I'm in for a ride. it!

I
wish wish wish... Prince would make madfunk songs like this again! The CRAZY bit at the start - that cacophony of sounds... genius! What WAS he eating for breakfast in those days??? Whatever it was - give him a spoonful, quick! [This message was edited Tue Apr 1 5:54:35 PST 2003 by onenitealone]

Yeah I know exactly what you mean! I particularly like his singing/ and screaming in this song. Cat on the background ('Aaww, shit!)! Slammin'!

To me this is the best song of the Black Album, what do you think? From what I remember reading, Prince expressed an interest in her (sent her something?), and she blew him off. She responded to the song by basically saying it was indecipherable or something to that effect. The rap was Cat. I think the song it just insane. That and Supercali were the scariest songs on that album. He was in rare form during this period. cracknbush

I remember reading an article, (some reporter was doing a day in the life of Cindy Crawford) she had a copy of the Black Album on cassette(bootleg) in her purse and there was a picture of it in the magazine. She didn't appear to all that flattered that Prince recorded a song about her.

This same rap can be found on the Lovesexy test pressing on the song "Positivity" but instead of cat saying at the end 'Cindy C' shes says 'Positivity'.

Actually, that entire rap is taken from the song "Music Is The Key" by J.M. Silk. (An old house music track) Only the last half of the last line is original. ______________________________________

and did ya'll know that the "music is the key" rap covered by Cat was stuck on the end of "Positivity" and then taken out...

Yeah, great song. I think I prefer both "Rockhard" and "Le Grind" though. Le Grind is really underrated in my opinion.

It's my least fav song on the black album. I like it and
it's a cool composition, but the screeching vocals "OOOH CINDY C" are this ][ close to irritating. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I think it was the 1991 or 92 MTV video awards when Prince was performing Gett Off. Cindy C was co-hosting it or something and she said that she wanted to talk to Prince and ask him what the song was about. She didn't seem angry or anything she just really wanted to find out. But it was in front of the camera's so maybe she was hiding what she really felt.

This is my favorite song on that Black Album and one of my favorite Prince songs. I especially love the part where he says "I know you're quite intelligent, a whiz at math and all that shit, but I'm a tad more interested in flying your kite tonight". This might be what Cindy was upset about. P wanted to bone.

WRONG!!! It was Arsenio Hall hosting the show. He even states "this is the reason why I took this gig!", when introducing Prince. Facts only please. . "
First I need a picture of your mother, to verify the fact that there's not another one in the universe so supreme!!"
