There is a lot of bluesy elements in The Question of U, from the beat and rhythmic feel down to the bluesy licks Prince thows down during the guitar solo. It may not be a traditional 12 bar blues, but I would say there is blues within the song

As for my favorite, I quite like the Blues Jam In A off of the Paris 1987 aftershow recording, that is a long and tasty jam.

I liked hs cover of "Red House" on that Hendrix tribute record some years ago....and I agree that "The Question Of U" has some bluesy overtones to it (especially live)....I didn't like "The Ride" when I first heard it back then..sounded like it was written in 2 minutes..but I consider it a P live classic.

If "Zanalee" fits that genre, then that's my vote. "Poor Goo" would be second.

Thanks for your help. I'll check those songs out. If you really think that there is nothing bluesy about the song 'The Question of U' you should listen to it again. Better yet, listen to 'The Question Of U/Electric Man. Thanks again.

The Ride by far is the best. Classic blues vibe with incredible guitar. INCREDIBLE. One I have been listening to often since his passing. I also love the live version of Something in the Water that he dropped a couple of years back. Who knew that one would play so well in a slow bluesy style. I had forgotten about the him shredding the guitar at the end of that one. God bless Prince and all of his talents. I've been lurking here forever. My first post.

my okie doke answer is The Ride. somebody already said The Truth. Slow Love is kinda bluesy to me. Blue Light kinda sorta in a stretch. Papa. How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore, sorta. & his version of Red House/Purple House.

The Ride and 5 Women come to mind.

I always thought "Temptation" had a sleazy, bluesy swagger to it. "The Undertaker" had a heavy blues vibe too.

The acoustic version of "Alphabet Street".

Colonized Mind is a killer-track. Next in line is the Indigo Nights-live-version of Question of U.

Wish he had done more music in that vein.
