"u aint gonna see a lot of dancing tonight" With all the talk of Prince's hip pain and his reluctance to discuss it I just saw a video clip from 2001 soundcheck that totally took me by surprise. Prince tells the audience "u aint gonna see alot of dancing tonight. "U r gonna have to dance for me" "Kip (his drummer) kicked me in my leg" Then he points to his left side. The "Kip kicked me in my leg"part seemed like an attempt to be funny but he sounds somber at the same time. He must have already struggling with hip/pain issues back in 2001? The 90s canes didn't have rubber tips - which means they were for show, rather than serious use. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. | |
