Prince abuse of medication How certain are we that mr Prince was in pain? How cretain are we that he was using 'stuff' out of necessity versus out of recreational perspective? I do not need your opinions, I am looking for facts. . Do we know when and why the supposed hip operation was performed? What was actually done? What did this resolve? Did this impact his use of medication? .

You couldn't have posted on one of the million other threads or stickies on this subject? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

No one ever heard of Prince being in pain and/or using meds until TMZ said so. The autopsy results described a scar on one of his hips, but no further details are known.

"We" are certain of very little. "We" speculate all bloody day tho. "We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

-- Billy Sparks who worked for Prince told Tom Joyner on his radio show that Prince had hip surgery not replacement surgery. I posted the audio of the interview on the board a few weeks ago. We also know from the medical examiner report that he had scars on both his legs. I am sure more information is going to come out if a criminal investigation actually leads to a trial.

who could possibly know that other than Prince, and he wasn't exactly known for being consistent. L

The scars were left hip and right lower leg. We are certain of nothing else.

Somebody very recently posted a thread from 2009 where we were all discussing it back then.

. Nope. this (seriously intended) discussion would have drowned even more. . So if the scars indicate operations: what issues did they resolve and why did he still use medication (read: painkiller-type stuff)? When approximately where the operations performed? (then we know the issues became too much and we know after what time the issues should have been less) Because there was no statement that the opiods were obtained in a normal (legal) manner yet, I gues that something is wrong in this area. (How hard is it to pull out the administration of adoctor, an apothecary to indicate that for mr Prince someone picked up medication X or Y at date Z?) So does this still confirm the path from `normal` opioids to this more heavy opioid? I mean; he has been operated on and still uses this stuff for terminal patients?!

I saw this, but who was this quote attributed to at the time. Prince himself never uttered a word publicly about having severe pain and no one in any of his bands have said anything about Prince being in constant pain. It's hard to say what was going on with Prince because he was still performing at a high level. If he was in pain, it was hard to tell. The guy was doing three hour main shows and two hour after shows regularly and never winced once during those shows. Even if he was on pain meds, we as the viewing public would have had to notice something and we didn't.

More for real than you. Your reply says nothing about Prince being in pain or him using meds. So, there... This is exactly the reason this thread was started.

It's very simple: if Prince had not been in pain, then he would not have taken the medication in the first place. Period. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

. Then how did he get to use the stuff that he died from? As if he did not get proper education abou these medications along all these years. . So that is why I ams asking what the hip operation(s) fixed. Because then we can understand he used the opioids for pain or for other reasons.

Agreed. We just don't know anything. Every info out there is speculation. Anyways, it doesn't matter anymore. Maybe you'd be better off dropping the subject, Udo. I get your point, but it is just asking the way to nowhere.
