Yes, this is definitely a fake - never played by Prince. Let's say this was the one that was broken and repaired, and for some odd reason, had a whammy bar added (which makes no sense). Even if that was the case, there's no reason --and no way to physically accomplish -- moving the jack plate from the center of the swirl on the lower left. That's where the jack plate is on all the cloud guitars - yet on this one it's not there.

The testimony by Prince's tech seems to confirm that it's not a fake, even if the dates and info he gives are a little puzzling... Original jack hole could have been filled with a wooden dowel, then covered by the refinish that would have been needed to disguise a neck break. The question is: why do it??

So the only French TV appearance Prince made through the whole early '90s was on a show called Nulle Part Ailleurs, 5th May 1994. He played one song, Endorphinmachine, using the gold symbol guitar - Auerswald original, not the Andy Beech copy - throwing it to the floor at the song's climax. Drop looks hard enough to break something, though the camera doesn't follow the action. There's no cloud guitar in sight...
