Michael Jackson told how he feared bitter rival Prince would die prematurely in a string of jealous rants secretly recorded three decades ago.

The King of Pop said he was worried the singer may kill himself.

But he also branded Prince , who died of a painkiller overdose in April, mean, nasty and rude.

The Mirror can reveal for the first time the contents of the tapes, recorded for his ­autobiography Moonwalker in 1988. The full extracts on Prince have never been printed before.

He said: “I don’t like to be compared to Prince at all.

“I have proven myself since I was real little. It’s not fair. He feels like I’m his opponent. I hope he changes because boy, he’s gonna get hurt. He’s the type that might commit suicide or something.

I find it interesting that when they were alive they kept it respectful but now since they're both gone they had all this vitriol for each other. Dont believe it.

I kinda believe it, but I think it was mostly MJ. I think he was intimidated by Prince's musicianship and prolific songwriting.
