Protective over Prince

I can't help but feel very protective over Prince. I hate when nonfans talk about him like they knew him. I know I didn't know him like that but in a way we all understood him (most of the time). But whenever somebody that I know didn't give two f***s about him when he was alive wanna talk about him, I get so pissed, like keep his name out your f***ing mouth. Seriously, I have people who made fun of him in front of me because they knew I loved him and now they wanna come to me talking about how much of a musical genius he was. Like get out of my face with that; don't talk about him, don't listen to him, don't even think about him! I don't mind people that only started listening to him after he died but before didn't talk about him like a dog because I started listening to MJ after he died but I never believed the trash people said about him. It's about respect. Either way, I might be a little salty but am I the only one feeling this way??

That's exactly the opposite of how Prince would have thought.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I feel the same way. I was in some chat room for people with anxiety and they used my love for him to troll me. It was very obvious though so I didn't pay them much attention. On some other site people were talking in the comments of an article how people won't shut up about Prince's death and how "nobody really cared about David Bowie's" or at least they didn't make as much of a deal of. Ever since I read that I've been starting to get more protective of Prince and have started to think about David Bowie and how his fans must feel with Prince. Idk, I feel bad.

I haven't had any hypocrites talk to me though. But there's so many hypocrites out there who for sure were not Prince fans at all talking about how much they love him now.

It's salty but I feel it sometimes too. Tons of friends on facebook yappin' about him now, but had fallen off the music a million years ago. Tagging me talking about, "Isn't this song awesome!" & it's something over 10 years old that's BEEN on my playlists lol It's kind of nauseating, hearing them say how much they "miss him" yet they hadn't given him a thought in ages. & they''ve moved on already, of course. I'm still mourning this dude confused sad

heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

Ehh, I think Bowie's death was a huge deal, & I wasn't even much of a fan. I think it depends on the circles you run in - I'm just guessing here, but Bowie's fans are probably mostlly White & middle aged, while Prince's appeal seems more broad to me in every way. They're both giants, but since Prince was a little younger, came along later in the game & was still actively touring & making music, it makes sense that his passing (especially being so sudden, with no sign of anything terminal like Bowie) might have a greater impact & effect more people at this point in time.

Especially the really hardcore MJ fans. I used to be one years ago and I know they use to spew out nothing but hate for Prince. At least the ones that I knew eek

Recently I've been seeing a lot of MJ fans say they love Prince and it's totally okay for them to do so but I don't feel right with it for some reason. It just seems hypocritical of them. I know you can be fans of both but the really hardcore MJ only fans can be batshit crazy.

That's true! In my social world people didn't make much of a fuss over either Bowie or Prince but it seems to me they were more interested in Bowie. I am friends on Facebook with middle aged folks so I guess it makes sense lol

IMO, both were equally great losses to music and the 2 biggest ever and I consider this year to be the year music died.

I feel ya. Don't try to get into him now when they didn't give 2 cents when he was here. Prince was part of my comfort zone. Took me away from negativity. Just like P.Org. Only place I'll go to be amongst real fams.
