The Ultimate Live Experience

I found one of these shows on youTube just now. It's March 22, 1995 (birthdate!) in London at Wembley.

I'm not sure I've ever really seen one of these shows where he used the endorphinmachine set (with the penis, the vag, and the womb). The set list was tight, and the show was only 95 minutes, because of the lack of Prince material (except a couple of songs). It was all stuff from The Gold Experience, Come, The Hits, and a little of Chaos and Disorder, (and technically Crystal Ball because he used "Get Loose" instead of "Loose".) The only Prince songs were "I Love U In Me", and "7".

These shows were so tight and on point, more than almost any other concerts I've seen (and God knows we've all seen a lot). I think about the Belgium aftershow (Hallowed B Thy Name) that I used to love to listen to (it also had The White Room performance on it, and something else), and how I finally found that video, which I never knew existed. It was a great full circle moment, after 20 years to see the concert, and not just hear it.

Ironically I used to have a picture of the endorphinmachine stage as my desktop picture (over a dual monitor setup) for a few years. My two desktop icons were symbol guitars which I sized and placed over the yellow & black prince guitars in the pic so they blended seemlessly.

But as far as these Ultimate Live Experience shows, my God. He was out to prove something. They are so deliberate and obstinate. FInd them, and watch them.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Great tour, he was all over UK TV at this time. Amazing band, amazing music. My favourite era!

I attended four of these gigs in the UK. Great shows for hardcores, maybe a bit disappointing for casual fans who wanted a greatest hits set.

Fantastic shows. I went to Manchester, Sheffield and Birmingham all in the space of week. The Sheffield show was one of the first dates that I took my now wife on cool Manchester was the first one, 10th of March, I remember being down near the front and the punch in the guts from the drums at the start of Endorphinmachine, so much power and emotion..

Shit, I thought Londell was about to totally shut me up by releasing a deluxe DVD box set of great quality video LIVE Prince performances, starting with him on Rick James' Fire It Up tour, because that would be such a great name for it. wink ***MESSAGE***

Thanks for the heads up on this though, I'll check it out and post my thoughts on it later tonight. thumbs up!

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I've certainly never found one. The closest is the soundboard to the Glam Slam birthday shows, or the 10,000 Wallpaper thing (and tha'ts not really a show, but some versions differ).

Weirdly, I can only find the Act I Tour 1993 on youtube, which I am politely retitling: Now That's What I Call "Oh No He Didn't!"
