His lyrical genius underrated I am constantly amazed by how his lyrics just poured out of him, So many songs written so quickly and yet his lyrics are so profound, He only got better as he got older, We here are always quoting but the general public has no idea, The music yes of course, but the moment you hear the lyrics he sucks you in, Master story teller, Miss his purple badness too much to say, Open the vault, those songs belong to us, he would want us to have them to help us through this thing called life.

Very true. I often think about how he was said to have written the lyrics to "Strawberry Lover" & "I Guess It's All Over" in two seperate listening sessions and each one took him about 10 minutes to finish. And add to that how many lyrics he wrote that he may not have even recorded yet on top of the ones that have been released. Sheesh!!!

Man was a latter day Shakespearian poet who embodied everybody from Byron - the Marquis De Sade - John Lennon - Muhammad Ali - Gandhi - Martin Luther King Jr - JRR Tolkien - George Orwell - His lyrics transcended even the music sometimes - When he died, there was a rumour about Aids - I walked into the pub one night and this girl shouted across the bar..."Hey H..Prince died of Aids!" (I am unconcerned about her motivation) - My reply..."so what if he did?...In France a skinny man died of a big disease with a little name..." - Clearly we know that tabloid rumour was nonsense...but that lyric shut her and the rest of the bar up! - The music he created hits the soul...but his lyrics live in the mind - "Everybodys looking for the Ladder...Everybody wants salvation of the Soul...the steps you take are no easy road...but the rewards are great for those who want 2 go..." - And I'm not even religious!!!!
