I get a little lost on "God (instrumental)" when all the drums start coming in with the fills. It reminds me of when Susan talked about him doing "Wally", and how beautiful it was, then he started fucking it up with percussion, etc. I kinda feel that way about "God (Instr)". At some point, it's like "okay we get it".

For me, "Alexa De Paris" is just beautiful. It's melodic, it has strings, it actually has an aurally organic aesthetic to it, and it's still a mid-tempo pop song. "Venus De Milo" is still my go-to wedding march song.

I've been listening to Xpectation a lot lately, and quite enjoy it. Nothing definitive, but it's good work. I mean, you could take part 2 of "The Scandalous Sex Suite" and let that ride on its own, really.

Alexa de Paris is my favorite because (as I've said many times) it is just so freakin' joyful. You can tell Prince was a very happy man when he recorded that.

As for Xpectation, I wake up every morning to Xhalation - it's my alarm tune.

Fathers Song - I know it is basically computer blue and was never released...but I just loves that piano!

Not at all the kind of thing OP is thinking due to it never being released, but the recently leaked outtake Traffic Jam seems very quintessentially Prince to me with its great linn drum and synth groove with blazing guitar soloing on top. Almost feels like it could be his walk on theme tune during that 1982-4 Minneapolis Sound era.

Im just seeing this. I have to seriously agree that this song represents what Prince was all about.

You could mix Cherrelle I Didnt Mean To Turn You On right into it now that I am thinking of it.
