Le Zenith - 1986

Funky Party 2Nite, which is a soundboard show from Le Zenith in Paris France, is one of my favorite boots. The last 4 songs aren't soundboard. But this show is historic because it was where "It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night" was recorded, and later (with overdubs) ended up on Sign 'O' The Times. (For those that don't know, you'll notice a note in the SOTT album with Prince thanking the "beautiful Parisians" for IGBABN.)

.

I never knew video of this existed! excited I'm watching it now on YouTube. It's a one-camera shot, but the sound is almost soundboard. It's so great seeing this favorite boot come to life like this. I've seen the Detroit show, etc., but this one is special, for the above reasons.

.

He had so much energy during these shows, and seemed to be having a lot of fun. It seemed more inclusive of the audience, whereas sometimes Purple Rain Tour seemed like a private party that everyone was watching through the glass. The scale of either tour could have contributed to those elements.

I am watching his last concert in Amsterdam 2014 which I missed as I was travelling in the UK. Just unbelievable. A parallel universe has opened .... He's so fantastic!

I missed it too because I was travelling in South America. llama (Just looking for an excuse to use that llama picture.) I didn't know there were videos of these gigs. Merci/dankjewel. Oh and Trivial: Le Zenith is in Paris, not Toulouse.

Well, that one is, yes. There were (are there still?) a series of them throughout France back in the 80s. But yeah, he was in Paris, not Toulouse.

I attended this great concert. At that time, I was really surprised to see french channel TV (France 2) & hoped that it was filmed. Few days after the concert, snippets (from the video discussed) were broadcasted on the french musical program "Rapido". Now mostly 30 years after this concert, I felt the same thrill at the beginning of the video when lights come down. Even if it's a one camera shot & it last 14 minutes: I'm really happy of it. Just like the Rotterdam show, does it really make sense that it was not filmed entirely? From this concert, I have great memories, pictures, ticket hub framed, different sound recording...Thnak U Prince for making my life better through your music. RIP.

I wonder if I'm the only one that gets something special when watching the film Ronin.
