Prince's sense of humor/equal footing I was going through old Youtube videos and interviews where Prince would poke fun at people in the industry - both those who did and didn't work with him - and wanted to know if he'd have allowed them the same courtesy.
Examples like the "Ozzy Osburn" and "Oak Tree" dances, the Will.I.Am dig ("let's remember he wrote 'My Humps'"), chanting "St. Paul - punk of the month," commenting on how plump an old Revolution bandmate had gotten (Bobby Z?) during a gig some time in the aughts, etc. made me think about how touchy he'd get when former bandmates even dared talk about their time working with him.
I know he had a good sense of humor - but did it always extend to himself when it came from others? By how much?

For me, I think the Ozzy joke was low brow, cheap, and disrespectful. Ozzy's been through some shit, most at his own hand, but he's still upright and alive. While Prince was Bromancing it up with Tony M. at the pool ("friends"), Ozzy was snorting a line of Tommy Lee's piss at another pool. Gross, but the dude went balls to the wall in life. I suppose he has a right to stumble around a bit at this point. (Just say no, kids.) Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

He and will.i.am are friends - talked about how they would talk about the industry, how he respected him as a businessman and techie. I think even will.i.am would laugh at the comment about my humps - it isn't genius music. He's sent flowers to Ozzy's wife a few years ago because they were of same mind about artists' rights. He has helped Bobby Z a lot - it seems they are very cool with each other. Prince has expressed respect for fellow artists the vast majority of his career - let's not judge a person based on a few moments, but a general pattern. I'm sure you consider yourself a kind person, but there were times when maybe you did not behave kindly or your actions were misinterpreted out of context - is it fair to judge your whole character on that?

Don't forget about the Dave Chappelle skit about the basketball at Prince's house...and the pancakes. He was a very good sport about them making fun of the way he dressed and his height. He even used the pancakes as self-deprecating humor over the years.

Just a question and I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but in the Mel B. interview where they are playing that word association game, she asks December 25 or something like that and he says Nimrod's birthday, does anybody know what that meant he said inside joke or something to that effect. I know Jehovah's don't celebrate Christmas so...... Just wondering. admission is easy, just say U believe, then come 2 this place in your heart.

Yes I know that 12/25 is not the real date, but I was just wondering if he was insulting Jesus or was it something else. I know to the JW's Jesus is not as big a person as in other "Christian" religions. admission is easy, just say U believe, then come 2 this place in your heart.

love the Jay Leno skits and interviews, the interview he did when he says" it's not memorax you are listening to, my microphone is on" and makes a funny face, talking about all the lyp sychning in the business. I also love the prank phone call when he is calling everyone telling them he is doing a survey on his music and no one realizes they are talking to Prince until the end. He was a funny dude. fan for life

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
