It just sounds like music done by someone else with the samples Versace could claim copyright to if needed. Or they fall under the "fair use" term as "Versace" gets repeated on them and they were originally used only in the previous shows.

I'm pretty damn sure the music in the 11min clip isn't by Prince. Like speculated above, it must be something they replaced the unreleased tracks in the show with.

just to clarify, there was only 1 runway show, of which 2 identical videos were uploaded,
with a different soundtrack for each:

the first one, which is obviously prince, and is a mix of his versace experience 95 + 06 + new mixes
for Irresistible Bitch and The Future:

and then the second one, which only features samples of the prince versace mixes, and of which it
is unclear wether it's prince produced or produced by someone else.

don't get me wrong. i WANT them both to be uniquely and exclusively by prince. lord knows we
need some new material now that we never heard before.

i just don't think the second mix is prince. even if you take into account what prince/josh/donna
could sound like, this is out of his zone and modus (as far as we've heard before anyway). but i
hope it is prince since i like that piece a lot for what it is. it's somewhat of a continuation of the
more electro/guitar sound on HnR1, yet unlike i'd have imagined it.

plus, even the first mix sounds quite rough in places. very rough even.

if you listen to the original 95 Versace Experience and the 2006 Versace Experience, the ones P
himself mixed, you hear a difference. his mixing work was much more smooth.

my 2 cents: first, actual runway mix was the prince tribute and it was very cool of her to do that.
second one, the edit, features more generic musical backing, perhaps through to copyright or an
other issue, who knows, and had only 2 second soundbytes by prince, mentioning her brand or
her name.

anywho. i'm sure she'll clear it up one day. until then it's speculation i guess.

another thing to consider is: would prince have really sent her a new mix of irresistible bitch
with the BITCH still in it? (the cut'n'paste Donatella sample is quite jarring here as well) and
would he have ok'd "i did not come to fuck around"? seems like they took the original two
tapes and mixed them up with the Donatella track, which is obviously something personal n
new which he sent her and then some old tracks they mixed in house? whatever, it's not at
all worth getting this deep. i'm bowing out. regardless of which is what. it's nice music and
it's nice eyecandy. so hey ho, let's just enjoy the show lol

I loved the first version, great tribute. It seems like the first is the actual based on the small group clapping at the beginning and end when they go into My Name Is Prince (in my opinion) biggrin

I listened to the music on both videos on Reply #33. Yes,

the first one is obviously Prince. I listened to the second

one twice and I am really skeptical about it being Prince.

If it is, it sure is different! I must say, though, that I liked

it.

The clothes looked like those Prince was wearing for a few years now. Elegant. Darker. Even the hoodies and casual wear seem similar to what he was actually wearing on stage. The business wear is very stylish. All very wearable. Love the flowing over coats. These styles could have carried his name brand successfully. For Versace of course. I don't think that is what was done here though--Versace's "Prince" line. It is just a show dedicated to the memory of Prince using music made for a show at some time, or maybe it was for this show. Works.
