If you watch the full show you will see that before singing it he had a large ring on his forefinger, and when he sang "Empty room" he didn't have it anymore. On youtube the quality is not good enough, but if you can watch it by another way, there are 1 or 2 focus on his hand while guitar solo, and you can see the little scratch and the blood drop pouring of it.

There is currently are REALLY clear version on youtube right now, I clipconvertered it, subscriber Jaana Toom has it and many other great Prince shows, more Jazz ones too and pretty great quality.

And despite all that, I was completely distracted by a peekabo dimple in that performance. The first time I noticed it it was all I could see. Have watched it a couple times now and the performance is off the charts amazing. Now I'm going to have to watch it again to notice that.

Hmm, I see the rain, but not so sure about that being behind the meaning only because they were performing Purple Rain (and a handful of tracks from the movie/soundtrack - almost a year before the movie came out...not sure which one influenced the other

Sorry hun. What I meant was that this was a recreation of sorts 4 the inspiration behind the lyrics. Not that this scene with Apollonia was the genesis of the song. P wrote from his own experiences and I'm assuming that he, at 1 point, had a moment like this in his life and wrote Purple Rain as a result.

Um, for starters...minute 27 and 28th start to show it...I thought I was daydreaming - like he needs another thing to make him irresistable.

BUT LITTLE RED CORVETTE (DONE SO WELL IN THIS CONCERT WHEW!! Minute 31 on - cannot avoid seeing it - might still have been daydreaming but it's DEFINITELY there >>>> IT's Peekaboo'ing all through that song!!!!!!!!! If you are looking at the screen it's on his left (but his actual right cheek). 32:35-32:40 I think has a good peekaboo of it.

There's another song later that really shows it well.

YAAASSSS MINE TOO. I need to have it on my phone (voice recorded Forever In My Life SOTT dvd version, all 12 glorious minutes of that song, just so I can listen to it when I'm out, I think this is going to have to happen for LRC too.

I also think this performance, the whole Montreux 2009, is a really great one to show people who don't quite get it still - you know? Like they can only picture the crazy 1980s Prince (YUM!) But to show the versatility in music style, voice...and just his exceptional live musicianship!!
