What's A Good Prince song for a Sweet 16? Hi fam -
So my daughter's Sweet 16 is coming up, and I'm considering using "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" for the Father-Daughter dance.
However, the tempo is a little off for a slow dance, methinks.
I'm having a hard time thinking of an alternate.
Any suggestions? By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory! |

Seriously tho, I've always looked at Adore as a romantic overture. However, Charlie Murphy told a story on BET the day Prince died and said he was chillin' on the beach with his daughter and her mother when Adore came on and it changed the way he heard the song and lyrics and began to tear up a bit thinking about his daughter. Gave me a different perspective on the song, or at least how the same song can mean different things to different people...so yea, Adore would work, imo. [Edited 6/17/16 20:52pm] |

So really you want a song which is romantic but all sweet for this father daughter dance.
That's... a challenge.
"Betcha Golly Wow" is a song Prince covered. It's sweet and slow and you could actually sing it to a baby and it would work. As for original songs by Prince, I don't know.

Come on, this is too easy.
. "Forever In My Life"
.
That tune was actually John F. Kennedy Junior's wedding song. |

Yup.
I was just listening to "BBGW"...sorry to say I just can't get behind his vocals on that song. Not since the first time I heard it.

That's some serious selective forgetting to hear certain lyrics.
That song only works if we're reimagining Jocasta and Oedipus as a sappy romantic duo before they discovered the truth...
Baby, yes Until the end of time I'll be there for you You own my heart and mind I truly adore you If God one day strike me blind Your beauty I'd still see Love is to weak to define Just what you mean to me

"P Control". I mean, it is about female empowerment.
"18 and over" has trouble written all over it.
But for a dance, "Venus De Milo" would be a nice prelude, then crossfade it into "TMBGITW". Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

Looking for the Father-Daughter dance.
Although I did include Chocolate Box in a Playlist that I made for a kids event.
