BUUUUT, back to the thread, here.
Honestly, I do think Prince was often lonely, personally. Not all the time, but sometimes, yeah. He struck me as a guy who would really like to just have family and friends around him, and be normal. He loved music, he loved playing, but he always seemed the calmest when he had someone to come home to, on top of it.
As much as I joke about him being extra and things, I do have a lot of compassion for him, and honestly, I suspect he was also really sweet when he wasn't being a little demon. That's why I can even make jokes about his diva moments - he was so much more than that and genuinely seemed to love others and want to make them happy. Not always knowing how to show it, but his kind of upbringing will do that to you. I have first hand experience with much of what he went through, and I'm pretty messed up myself relationship wise. I think it helps if you at least know what the problem is, even if you can't do much about it. And you can't. The damage has been done so fundamentally that all you can do is try your best, but you won't succeed. I don't wish that upon my worst enemy, even if I had one. It is indeed a lonely life and I am so sorry that Prince had to go through that. Indeed - don't abuse children or they turn out like me.. Spot on as always.

In fact, if our pain caused us to seek and seek and seek a solution (and I'm not talking about religion here), God will bring it to us. And then we will find a whole other life while keeping the good we got.

I alway heard that line and thought -- I don't know, Prince, you seem to be all right despite it all. Maybe not so well wrapped as you could be, but definitely not the worst off.
But really, I get what he's saying there. I wouldn't wish my upbringing on anyone either, despite knowing it's made me stronger than many.

But really, I get what he's saying there. I wouldn't wish my upbringing on anyone either, despite knowing it's made me stronger than many. He did incredibly well with what was handed to him, I'd say. He went on an amazing journey trying to be the very best version of himself in every way and that takes so much. Including humility, which he did have in abundance, diva and all. Did he fail and mess up on this journey? Of course, we all do. I hope he felt proud of that accomplishment, and I think he did. He came such a long way from that messed-up kid to purple Yoda.

That's what I mean. He had a lot of strength and will to not let it sink him. And that quality I wouldn't mind a kid copying. That is a good thing to have, a will that keeps you going.
