Prince critical of strippers thread

Does anyone remember the story of Prince going to a gentleman's club and telling the dancers it was wrong to dance and he would offer them double their pay to keep their clothes on? I think the article was published in 2006 so he was a JW then.

Prince is an enigma, he did know some exotic dancers in Mpls it has been rumored and Prince music has a been a staple for strip tease preformances since he debuted. I just found it an interesting story and it offered insight into his beliefs. I find it facinating how he had changed over the years and the various stages/phases he had gone through in his life.

Nothing enigmatic about that. He changed, his views changed and his morality changed. What he did in 2006 fits perfectly with how he was living his life in 2006.

Actually, I think it's really lame...and hypocritical considering his life.

Clothes on or clothes off? lol

He sent his girlfriend down to the hotel room I was in, and she knocked on the door and she sweetly came in and dumped this bag of metallic, multi-coloured underwear on my bed – bra and panties, basically – and said, ‘Prince said wear this or you’re fired’,” recalled Gayle Chapman, keyboardist from 1978 to 1980.

That youtube link was funny.

People change, it's not phony or fraudulent. Man, I have followed Prince since his bad boy days thru every damn decade he was doing this thing, and I tell you, I respected him back then and I respected him for the decisions he made later in life. No shame in that. He evolved and grew, more than I can say for most people.

Funny how some don't think people can change or if they do they're somehow hypocritical. As Prince told Arsenio Hall in 2014: when he was 20 he was looking for the ledge and he just went there but then you make changes in your life and there's a lot of things he did 30 years ago that he doesn't do now.
