Bremer Trust given permission to hire music industry experts for assistance w/assets Update: 2 have been hired

Bremer Trust, "the special administrator charged with shepherding Prince’s $100 million-plus estate, will be allowed to hire entertainment industry experts to help handle the late megastar’s assets, a judge has ruled."

Bremer Trust will be able to hire “identified entertainment industry experts” for the job.

After reading earlier that Paisley Park could be sold sooner than later, this shows that they are at least getting some people who know about the industry.

Per the link that the OP posted, "Results of that test and tests of other potential heirs are expected in time for a June 27 probate hearing."

So, I am wondering who Bremer Trust would hire for this task?

I am hoping those hired will be ones who are very familiar with

Prince's work.

I agree. Otherwise, this whole thing has the potential to go in a very non-Prince-like direction. Don't be surprised if those "industry experts" happen to work for a label whose initials are WB. How would we feel about that?

Anyone wonder if that's why Questlove heard Wally?

Wally has got to be floating around out there somewhere.

I think (but cannot remember for sure) I have heard it at

least once over the past 8 years.

I wouldn't feel all that great about it if "those "industry experts" happen to

work for a label whose initial are WB". We know the problems Prince had

with them over the years and there sure don't need to be any more of

those kinds of problems.

I'm thinking getting people like (and I'm not saying to hire the particular

ones I'm naming) SheilaE, Eric Leeds, DavidZ, Susan Rogers who have

worked with/for him and would have a very good idea on how Prince

would like to have his music worked.

There could even be a small handpicked group of fams who could have

a listen to the music and give their input about it before releasing the

music.

Those are just my ideas. shrug

This made my eyes pop BIG. We can't let that happen.
We have to do something about it if it does.

Prince would have had problems no matter what label he was with. Warners WAS the most traditionally artist friendly label when he signed with them.

My question is who managed Prince's business deals and finances before he died? Did he do it all himeself?

Your guess about that is as good as mine. I know that at the last several

shows, those who attended got a Hit n Run cd included in the ticket price.

There was also "peer-selling" of that cd and I think also (not real sure) the

Hit n Run 2 cd.

anangellooksdown, what tactics could be used to prevent it

from happening? Like you said, "We can't let it happen".

Wouldn't it be harder to do something about it AFTER it happens?

I agree, jjam. I can only imagine that Prince was very hard

to work with back then. He knew what he wanted and fought

for it.

That was over 30 years ago when there were

very few labels to handle new material. Nowadays, the artists

can create their own independent label. Not everyone HAS to

make it big. To me, the main thing that counts is that the artists

love what they do and are passionate about it. But if they do make

it big.....awesome.

I just hope to hell that Bremer Trust is smart in the hiring

process. Prince's music needs to be handled with care. I

hope that happens.

Oh, good. I am glad to see that the first two hired for

this task, L. Londell McMillen and Charles A. Keppelman,

have already worked with Prince.

After I had first read the infomation in the link posted in OP, I

thought there would need to be a lawyer who is familiar

with the music industry.

.

Mr. McMillan, a lawyer, had a long association with Prince.

Mr. Koppelman is a former chairman of EMI Records.

.

Here is the link about this new information::
