Uhh, you can't see that both APOCALYPSE NOW and RAINBOW CHILDREN are far out epics, created by an artist of genius caliber, and both works really do not fit into what the general public releases of that time were? (Commercial friendly SUPERMAN was the big epic at the time of APOCALYPSE and Beyonce r n b/pop dance music was the order of the day when Prince released his religious jazz album.) APOCALYPSE and RAINBOW are both sprawling bold statements by top artists. No one takes chances like that anymore in film or music. To compare the two is correct.

To compare the two may be fine. Both are great pieces of art. But no. it has generally since its release been considered Coppola's last masterpiece after the two first Godfathers and The Conversation. And yes, I agree, hardly anyone makes these personal, risktaking, imperfect movies today.

Most people I know find especially the part with Brando hauntingly brilliant and enigmatic.

I belong to none of those groups but JW can b pretty harsh much like Catholics in the Middle Ages and still I suppose...but there are lots of religions more open to embracing all people...and atheists/agnostics as well. I get upset at narrow mindedness anywhere and I have a sense Prince's spiritual beliefs evolved quite a bit in last 4 or 5 years

I used to buy 2 of everything - one to "keep" and one to use.

In the age of digital, it's not really needed I guess. I rip my original, and then it's back in its case forever.

I do have a few copies of LotusFlow3r and Planet Earth though, stuff that I knew would go out of print very quickly.

I would imagine that the days of "new" Prince music going out of print are over though.

I take the lyrics as seriously as I take Star Wars or a Parliament record. It's the music and the "spirit" that lifts TRC.
