Which Prince songs from his studio albums has he NOT performed live?

Prince has performed ALOT of songs live. Which songs did he just not decide to perform in front of a live crowd? Even if it wasn't recorded on a soundboard, maybe he played it for a small club or at Paisley Park for a group of lucky fans....

So my org friends, which songs off of his studio albums has he NEVER performed live? I bet it's a small list too...

I was actually reading up on a particular song tonight on PrinceVault, that was noted to have never been played live. "Good Love", from the Camille record, Crystal Ball, and Bright Lights Big City soundtrack. Makes me wonder about "Shockadelica", too. (I didn't look that one up.)

DMSR would have the skinny on the first decade of stuff. Set lists are listed, and occasional throw-ins are noted, too.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Cherry Pie, Apple kisses...... everything is cool.

Seems like it might be quite a difficult one to play live.

I was always gutted he played so little of Emancipation and NPS live. Songs like New World, Joint 2 Joint, The Holy River, Mad Sex, In This Bed Eye Scream, I Like Funky Music, The Human Body, Wasted Kisses, New Power Soul and Somebody's Somebody should've been concert staples back in 96-2000. I know he did one or two of these on the odd occasion, but I found it really disappointing that he put out this massive, sprawling, 3-disc set and yet didn't believe in it enough to replace some of the tired old classics in his setlists with some of his newer shit.

It was nice to see him dust off The Love We Make and perform it regularly in his latter years though.

How frequently has Prince performed The Most Beautiful Girl in the World post mid-90s? It's not my favorite song but it was one of his biggest hits. Same question for Diamonds and Pearls. Did he play that one on the Piano and Microphone tour?

Electric Chair was performed live on Saturday Night Live in 1989.

Totally agree, I think that's why it isn't appreciated as much. Prince's music is made for the stage and it translates much better in a live setting. If he had preformed more of his post-Warner catalogue (especially Emancipation) I think we may have differnt feelings about it. Just as an example I don't like the album version of Purple Rain, but Purple Rain live from the Purple Rain Tour with the extended guitar solo takes me to another world!

I agree I was going to post something similar.. Although I think he did Somebody's Somebody on a talk show once.. I never understood why it never made it to the setlist on the Jam Of The Year tour at the time. Somebody's Somebody had a music video and was getting played quite often on BET, VH1 and Urban radio in my area at the time

Yes, he played both of these on the last tour.

Cool. How was his voice on the first one? It seems like up until the very end he sang everything in the original key which is pretty amazing. A lot of artists can't do that.

<<Makes me wonder about "Shockadelica">>

I think I've heard him perform Shockadelica live, or at least part of it in a medley.

http://www.princevault.co...ockadelica

I wouldn't include this, if what they are referring to is him simply playing a sample from the song. Meaning, a sample you could stream on iTunes before buying the song via The Hits/B-Sides. Pressing a button is not the same thing as "performing" -- at least, not in my book.

Do you know what it means by "sample set"?

In another discussion I was surprised to see that he never preformed Cinnaman Girl Live esp since he released it as a single. confuse
