Black and white? razz

I think you may be referring to his BDSM work. He also took a ton of gorgeous celebrity photos and fine art portraits that were unrelated.

Really - that question is ambiguous, and ultimately rhetorical, at best.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

There are no implications. Robert Mapplethorpe was one of the best. He did amazing portraits and nudes. If Robert Maplethorpe took photos of Prince, they are probably beautiful, and I doubt that they show anymore skin than Prince usually showed. Where can we see them?

I know what you're asking! No. Robert Mapplethorpe is not the one who supplied Prince with fentanyl.

What do you think is implied by Prince being photographed by Robert Mapplethope in 1980?

It is implied that Prince was someone that photographer Mapplethorpe wanted to photograph.

Maybe you want to use a different word than "implied".

No dialated pupils

? The photo in that facebook link does have dilated pupils (dilated means big and open).

On another note, this entire thread is such a great example of falure to clearly or effectively communicate coherently in some of the posts including the initial one.

You are kidding, right?!

Mapplethorpe was a very erotic photographer, just look at his pics of flowers, for instance. In the 80s, close to his death, everybody wanted to have their pic taken by him, even though he was chastitized by somany because of his photographs of the whole S&M gay scene.
He represented a whole New York artistic scene, with Patti Smith, Laurie Anderson, The Chelsea Hotel, Warhol, poetry, and so on. He photographed S. Weaver, Iggy Pop, Richard Gere. His use of light and body form was absolutely stunning. Mapplethorpe's photo of Prince is one of Prince's best.

One of my best friends is the man you see in many of Mapplethorps works, beautiful, black, bald and hairless. This is to say that I know from him, that HE was never involved with Mapplethorp sexually - many of his subjects were just subjects and not sexual partners and not all of his work was bdsm related. Thats what got him attention.

Much of Mapplethorps work had absolutely zero to do with sex, and insuinating such a thing shows how little you know about any of it. A simple portrait of Prince by Mapplethorp is only indicative of the fact that Prince back then, as he was until the day he died, was a fascinating subject and sought after by many famous photographers ....

So are we talking about Prince's pupils or his relationships? It's a picture, one of hundreds, that's what I think.

I wish that Robert Mapplethorpe had taken a lot of nude photos of Prince because I am sure that they would all be beautiful. Prince would have made and excellent nude model. But I doubt such photos were ever taken. Our loss.
