When Doves Cry. I was doing something else while listening to MTV and when I heard the song I stopped everything I was doing, sat in front of the TV and was like...WOW... Who is this guy??? The first money my parents gave me I went to the store and bought everything I could find from him.

Musicology for me, around age 10. Mom was a huge fan and kept up with all his work and would always buy his recent projects. Also, I remember us sitting down together to watch the acoustic set on Mtv unplugged around that time. Of course, it wasn't for another few years after that until she finally let me watch Purple Rain
s/o to moms for putting me on though.

"Soft and Wet" was the first Prince song I knew, and I liked it. But, "Party Up" was the song that made me a Prince song. A local rock/funk band would be sitting under a tree listening to Dirty Mind when I'd be walking home from, of all places, choir practice. I'd never heard anything like it before. I'd stop and listen for as long as I could before I had to get home and not be late. That day I heard "Party Up" changed my world.
