Prince - Joy In Repetition (Live Piano Version) Sydney 2016

This is just one beautiful performance of this song, amongst many... like the ONA aftershow one.

Go check it out then please tell us what you think and also what is your favourite version/performance of this great song?

We've had a thread here recently asking, was the piano tour really that good? And most of the people who weren't there said no and those who were there said you had to be there. So I've listened to this version of the song and the one from the North Sea Jazz Festival and I prefer the latter. That organ... Yeah, I think Prince was better with a band behind him.

The piano tour was good but not great imo But I'm glad he did something different. Some songs sounds good on piano but don't think Joy in repetition is one of them. My favorite performance of this song will always be the one from ONA The aftershow

I love this live version. This is one of my all time favorite Prince songs, but the One Night Alone aftershow version is my favourite, the guitar solo is his best for that song.

I think the tour was great, one of his greatest in fact. Nothing between Prince and his creativity. His voice was was super strong, his phrasing exquisite. The piano playing really brought out the harmonic and rhythmic potensial of the songs, making me hear them all anew.

The wooh is on the one!

Yes, mine also, but I really love this Sydney piano version. In one there is more emphasis on the guitar and in this one, the voice. I think they're very different though both great. smile

Some songs do sound better on piano but I am so used to hearing this song with a great guitar solo that I felt the paino version missed something.

There are other songs that are better served by the piano

The version he did in Oakland in February gave me goose bumps . Hard to say what my favorite version is. I really like the Emancipation launch version he did at Paisley back in 98'

The boots don't do the live concert justice, hopefully an official release would though. This song was amazing live.

What we should be mad about is that the web sheriff is more worried about youtube videos and people sharing boots for free -- rather than dealing with those that are actually making $$$$$$$ off of lies.
