The story seems incomplete. What exactly was said on the sofa when they sat down together. Without that specific information we cannot know why Prince stomped out and slammed the door. It was just too general for me. Hell you can tell us what song Alicia was playing on stage but you cannot state any specifics of your conversation that pissed Prince off.
As far as Mayte goes. She has had years to think about her relationship with Prince and just got a big ass tattoo on her hand so the purple magic is still working its wonders on her I guess. I would think by now she could articulate herself on whether she was mistreated by Prince. If she can still love him like this then who I am to speculate about what happened between them.

Maybe so. But if you're not a fundamentalist, what are you? Either you live your life by your religion, or you cherry pick and chisel on the side. In which case you invalidate the entire point of religion. The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!
If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...

That is not true. He did not tell Mayte what to eat in fact, Mayte helped Prince to become a vegetarian.

"By "us," Prince was referring to Mayte Garcia, to whom he was married from 1996 to 2000, and who introduced him to the vegetarian and vegan lifestyle. But even after the two split up, he held onto those new beliefs." fan for life

This is the first time I have read anything about a daughter. We all know about their son Ahmir as well as the miscarriage but I have not read an interview with Mayte that refers to them having a daughter that passed. Maybe if you can post a link to said interview?
I'm pretty sure he was the one who left Mayte. He bought her a house in Spain and left her there while he was seeing other women.

My respect goes out to the young woman reporter who had the courage and stood her ground against him. To be that age & on his turf could not have been easy. I hope she has come to put it in the proper perspective. Most women simply do not grasp the anger/misogyny that many man have for/towards them.
However, statements on here that P was an abuser due to his personal relationships are telling as to how misguided and confused ppl are. Did P groom young women? Yes, was it unethical? YES. Was it illegal? No. Moreover, he would not have been in such situations without the express involvement or PUSH of the "parents". M. was pimped. Anna Garcias mother allowed/encouraged the situation as well. Elvis operated in a very similar way for I suspect for many of the same issues. Prince continued to evolve as a human being. I admit I was the first to misjudge and think 3rd eye girl was yet another "protege" band we were all going to be subjected to. I was wrong. I had the sense he respected them and was finally coming to grips with core issues that plagued him since his youth. I think the fact that he WASN'T in a relationship with someone for so long was a good thing as he was reflecting on past experiences and judging from his lyrics still continuing to grow.
It is disturbing to see ppl continue to give Mayte a free pass- SHE IS AN ADULT NOW. Her recent attention whoring while drunk with her young daughter present are inexcusable. P always surrounded himself w/weak women w/little if any talent based on their appearance & psychological factors. To continue to pretend that there could be/was some great love or that these women are then given a life long pass and are not responsible for their behavior when they are over 18 is sexist & a slap in the face to all women who have not used their appearance/bodies to gain approval, fame and money. Moreover, it is a real insult to survivors who have been thru horrendous sexual and physical abuse. Mayte showed no concern for Nona Gaye when P. was obviously publicly involved with her. M. was over 18 when they finally got together, SHE WAS AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HER OWN CHOICES. Even Denise Matthews herself said she went along with the sexual image because she wanted to get paid. Then years later she turns around and blames P. for it? While using the name "Vanity" on her book to make money? Either you are for something or not. Either you have the courage to stand for your convictions or you dont. It's ridiculous at this point for Mayte enablers to keep blathering on about her being a "victim". The victim at this stage is her child and the images that these women have actively participated in making and putting out there for THEIR own financial benefit that then IMPACT all women.

How many women around him WERE NOT on his payroll? I don't care how many women he brought into bands, or took on the road as singers or muses: did he "sign" a paycheck for them? If he did - and he is His Royal Badness, the Rock God-Icon - how would those women ever stand up to him? As for his wives: there is an old expression: "table money." The husband would leave some money on the table every week from his paycheck for the wife to use to run the household. I bet those two wives had basically no autonomy because the world had to revolve around him or life would be miserable. If they had had their own money, and could basically tell him where to go, it might have been different. But then that exists in non-Rock God marriages, too.

The entire point of religion at its best is to comfort children who can't deal with the thought of death. At worst its a tool of control. The only way for any of those iron age fairy tales to peacefully exist in the odern world is to pick and choose the most reasonable parts and disregard the rest with great prejudice. You can be a fundamentalist about the sky appearing blue to human eyes because that is know without a doubt. You cannot be fundamentalist about Magical Sky God(s) without trouble ensuing. By definition, faith is a belief in that for which there is no evidence.
