This is a myth/misconception. Usually attorneys do not write burial wishes into Wills.

Wills generally deal with property and/or debts. Human bodies are generally not considered assets of the estate.

For health reasons, human bodies after a death need to be dealt with as soon as possible. But dealing with the decedant's estate, may not be dealt with for a time afterward. If the only place you put your burial wishes is in your Will, by the time your Will is handled, it could be too late.

It is better to tell someone what you wish for your burial, usually a family member or a close friend, and/or write down your wishes and give that to a family member or a close friend and/or make sure they know where to find this information. Also many people now prearrange their funerals: buying the caskets, picking out plots, sometimes even choosing headstones, etc. - in this case, often the funeral director already has the decedent's wishes on file. (But you do have to be very careful when purchasing prepaid plans.)

Now we need to steer back to the OP's main topic.

What on earth, this post is not accurate as to what lawyers usually do. Sigh....

Back to topic.

Bootlegging crackdown is like closing the barn door after the horse has escaped. There is so much stuff out there that we can spend years listening and trading. The only thing the estate can do now is to have official releases. Alan does have some good ideas. Prince fans do not want the music to be too produced but we also do not want the same old stuff recycled so it will be a fine line.

Ali's passing and his funeral today has been inspirational and moving.

Prince? Reportedly cremated the day after. Gone and that's that. sad

It's so sad.

The world did everything it could to make him go out the right way with all of the landmarks in purple lights.

When the baby died, it was cremated.

I can see him talking about cremation with a friend/relative in some late-night convo.

I don't get it either. Why the big rush? I'm not even so concerned about the fans but surely there were others he was close to or that he meant a lot to besides the 30 people that were at the memorial such as it was. Plus he still hasn't been properly laid to rest.
I'm sad this means probably the end of all the youtube vids I've been enjoying. Shame he kept all that from the world.

That has more to do with:

1. Ali likely having a will.
2. Ali actually being close with his family.

It's possible the family will place his remains in PP. (if they manage to keep it) I would imagine he would probably like that, instead of being buried somewhere.

This is a common misconception. Final wishes for remains are not usually specified in a will, primarily because under most state laws, a will does not have to be entered into probate until months after death.

The primary source of instructions is from next of kin. Even if there are written "final instructions", legally in many circumstances it is up to family members. That is also true with medical care associated with final illness, even if there is an advance directive or living will -- it is ultimately up to the recognized next of kin, in this case, his sister Tyka.

Lesson out of all of this: make sure your family knows (and respects) your wishes. You will not be the one making those decisions.

Here we go....damn the aftermath of Prince's death has been even sadder than his actual death. Its all about money...I doubt if we will ever hear anything from that vault and at this point I really dont want to...its over.

On the contrary, Bremer knows as well as anyone how much the vault material is worth and how big of a tax liability is coming due. If vault stuff doesnt come out then it will likely be the heir's doing and not Bremer Trust.

Not true. I have gotten many things pulled for different reasons.

If enough of us report them they may pull them. I am trying to figure out what idiots are buying these esp since they are available for free in many places.

Start with the ones linked here. Numbers do matter. Just click on the report item button and use the bootleg reason.

I am not on ebay much looking for Prince items but if I see bootlegs I do report them and a few have been taken down. Now why people are spending this money I am clueless. disbelief

True, if Prince did not set up plans to be enacted upon his death, then the family probably did make those decisions.

From what I am aware of, Prince was a man who treasured his privacy. Considering this, what do you take issue with, specifically?

That is what we needed for Prince,we don't need no major concert with friendssingins his songs. That has been my thoughts exactly, I remember MJ's and I thought how nice of his family to think of his fans and share that with us. They also had a private family service earlier with no cameras.

Bremer Trust and the Court would have to agree - THEY would be the ones that would have to be contacted about such an offer.

As long as the Administrator, the Court, and the next of kin ALL agree, they can do almost anything -- but they ALL have to be in agreement. We have a lot of people at the table here.

(This is not legal advice.)
