Divine. Can anyone confirm if it's Fink or Prince? I always guessed Prince. If it's Fink - this, plus "Head," wow.

Fink co-wrote "Dirty Mind", not "Head". They were actually jamming, and Fink had come up with a keyboard hook. Fink went home. Prince stayed up all night, and wrote the song as you hear it now. Prince played it for him the next morning, and he was amazed at what Prince did with it. So, he got the co-writing credit.

Thanks, I'm aware. But the flashy solo on "Head," if I'm not mistaken, is Fink.

i think i was cheated out of that segue on the last online purchase i made of the album.

I really don't think it's Prince guys, Prince usually had more of a bluesy, funk or jazz feel, not classical. I still didn't get an answer of who played the WDC solos, those were amongst some of his best work but they certainly are not pentatonic scales.

Prince played the WDC solos on the studio version. This has been confirmed by Fink himself. Pretty sure he plays on Glam Slam as well.

Another beautiful synth solo with classical flavor.

Just want to add to this. When Prince recorded the keyboard solos on WDC, he did it with the tape slowed down, just like how he recorded the 'Camille' voice. Then when it came time to tour the album, Dr. Fink was mortified because he now had to play those solos at speed! lol

(Source: online Fink interview I read online months ago and can probably never find again...)

OH! Sorry. I would think that was Fink. If it wasn't, he sure to fuck nailed it on concerts over the years, as he did the WDC solo. But, he is a pretty great keyboardist, so it's not surprising. All the pump & lace aside, these are excellent musicians.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Yes, Fink improvised the solo on "Head".

that solo really isn't that hard, I'm not a very good keyboardist and I can do it at speed. I can't see fink having any trouble with it.

also, i think Fink did some of the wonderous solos on the first Time album.

I personally love the Lovesexy album, it is the only album next to SOTT that I love every single song. And I do love to listen to Lovesexy all the way thru like someone suggested. It's just a powerful, funky, inspiring, sensual album. And yes the keyboard work after Glam Slam into AnnaStesia is awesome. All of the musicanship on this album is great. And I personally feel that SOTT and Lovesexy tour concerts were some of the best Prince has ever delivered. Thank you for this thread!!! Everyone needs to listen and absorb Lovesexy! Love you Prince thanks for your gift of music!!!
