1983/1993/2003? U CAN SAFELY SAY THE NPGMC HAS GONE Interestingly, also think of this:
in 1983 and 1993 Prince didn't release anything himself. Maybe he takes 03s as gap years. My guess is he's having a break but recording a studio album which will go out at the end of the year like TRC. I think the club is scrapped for attracting too many fanatics and also it was badly run and too expensive and i think he got sick of all the responsibility of it.

yes, I think Prince often has patterns he thinks out but they arent always obvious. Notice how many times he uses phrases in his songs that are titles of bootlegs.

Also there was a clue that it would close as there is only one reference to the website in the whole book of ONA Live. Ud think it would be more prominent if it was going to continue

I think the club is scrapped for attracting too many fanatics I think Prince has learned through is NPGMC experience that a LOT of his fans are NUTS, actually! Here's what I have determined about many members of NPGMC: 1) A great many are bootleg buyers/downloaders/distributors;in other words thieves; 2) Many, no matter what Prince does or gives them, like the Buddhist theory of the "Empty Ghost" of having pin-prick mouths and big stomachs-you guys just cannot get your fill, you're always disgruntled! NEVER satisfied! 3) NPGMC can post FACTUAL release information about a 3-cd live set called ONE NITE ALONE-LIVE! and fans warp their expectations into a SEVEN (!!) disc set called "Xenophobia"! Clearly, some cannot read. Or they're delusional beyond rationality! 4) Communications/Commentaries are posted saying concepts/projects may change throughout the year (the organic club statement) and Prince fans instantly run to the BBB. Tell me, seriously, does anyone out there TRULY want "The Very Best of 0)->"? Come on, now. And how do you not know that "Last December" was to be nothing more than an environmental instrumental cd, ala "Kamasutra"? You know, that coaster you own. The titles of these non-cd's was enough to make some of you salivate like Pavlov's dog, but what you recieved in the end may have been SO much better than what might have been! Ever thought of that? 5) Inundated by persistant, agitated, restless e-mails from impatient individuals probably got to be too much and a little scary for employees of NPGMC. IF NPGMC has taught me anything in 2002, it's not that Prince is a BAD businessman. I already knew that! It's that a lot of Prince's biggest fans/NPGMC members are his biggest enemies, too! They are scary in their need/obsession/greed; disrespectful of his feelings about bootlegging; they set their expectations too high (why do you think "Xenophobia" was renamed "Xpectation"), and cry-babies!(see the baby wailing at the end of "Xpectation" for Prince's dig) I think Prince is taking time to re-examine exactly WHO he is catering to with NPGMC, wether it's worth it or not! I don't blame him! Some members of the NPGMC and casual retail purchasers are respectful fans, but many of you are shameful in your ways. With fans like those, who needs enemies? Chaka mad!

Right on. I attended several shows and soundchecks and they were more than I expected. Prince gave more to his fans than anyone should expect. If some people didn't get their money's worth from the club, it sure wasn't Prince's fault

If thats what was meant, then what has that got to do with Prince planning things out. He sings the lines, the bootleggers take a few words for an album title. Prince's planning doesn't come into it? It were proper bo I tell the!! Bo Selecta!

No! What i meant was that Prince uses lines in his songs that refer to other songs he has recorded, only available on bootlegs. Such as Underneath the Cream, which is mentioned in Hot Wit U and Horny Pony mentioned in Push.

Prince uses lines in his songs that refer to other songs he may have worked on. He may later decide not to release those songs because he doesn't feel they turned out the way he wanted, ran out of space on an album or whatever, It's not part of a planned conspiracy on his part to plant bootleg album titles! The fact that the songs may end up on a bootleg is because they are unreleased and a bootlegger got hold to it and threw it out on an album. Underneath the Cream was released through the NPGMC as a 2001 download. Horny Pony was mentioned on Push as part of a rap that included all of the song titles on the album. He just decided at some point after recording the rap to replace Horny Pony with Jughead (shudders), thus making Horny Pony an outtake later picked up by bootleggers and circulated. Logic is a beautiful thing. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

Hallurain...well all i was saying was that i think Prince may deliberately do this to go the listener clues to outtakes that he has, almost like a teaser. I dont think there is a bootlegger conspiracy but i think the effects is that when the Vault is uncovered people will think, wow what a genius, he made reference to these things all along

i take offense o being accused of being a nutcase fanatic for being a member of the music club most of us joined the club 4 the opportunity to hear more music and get better concert seats that simple! yes we are all a bit pissed off at the fact we paid our money and he spent the ona tour promoting the club only to then close it down with no warning or explanation for this as much as i adore the man he is out of order and really should be reported to the fair trading standards we deserve to be protected from this kind of rip off behaviour. a shop keeper would be prosecuted for this type of trading.

dont take offence, what i meant is that the way it is run encourages only fanatics as most people wouldnt put up with all the changes and misleading promises. Yeah i think it did need a change. Hopefully they will review it, read the reactions and change it for the better, or better still he'll come out with a studio album and come to Glastonbury!!!
