Unreleased Early 1984 Song OUR DESTINY Man.
The only version I've heard is live and very tinny but man it sounds like a killer song.
Super catchy New Wave pop. Very clever lyrics with lots of Classic Prince-ly Sass.
Do you guys know if there's a studio version of this tune???
Starts off with rolling synth riff and a stomoing bass drum ala Dirty Mind then unfolds into a spry pop-funk jam...

Yes there is a studio version with Lisa Coleman on lead vocals - I love both

Pump those brakes. Since when is there a Lisa version of Our Destiny? Do you mean A Place in Heaven?!

Nope, studio version the beat and the strings that we hear open the Ladder

The only copy I have heard is titled Our Destiny/Roadhouse Garden and sounds like a live recording with the Revolution. I always wondered if they were two sep songs but never did the research.

OldFriends4Sale is correct (as usual), a studio version of Our Destiny with Lisa on lead vocals leaked some time ago, comparatively recently I guess in terms of circulating tracks but I still think it was a few years ago. You can find it on the Eye Records release Blast From The Past 1.0. [Edited 4/29/16 11:15am] Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

A Lisa version has been out there for a couple of years now.

I finally just heard the live version - and honestly it's kind of underwhelming. Unless the studio different was really different, I can see what this never made a relased album. Not that crazy about Roadhouse Garden either. Heresy!

I LOVE the version of Our Destiny. Especially now it rolls into Roadhouse Garden. That shit is FUNKY. But the studio version with Lisa has never done much for me. I think I first heard it back in 2012 or so. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I've been familiar with OD due to watching the Roadhouse Rehearsal boot but have never heard the studio version until right now. Verdict: love it!

I love the studio cut and the live rendition I love how Prince literally sings it as a man talking to a woman, and Lisa sings it as a woman talking to a man

It is interesting that the verses start in falsetto and then come down into his normal register - it definitely makes it seem like he wrote it for someone else to sing.

Oh wow, really like the studio version. Those trippy strings get me every time.

Love the live version. The foreboding synth opening and the one-two of Our Destiny and Roadhouse Garden... it sounds like the perfect opening to what could have been a Purple Rain follow up album. Hundalasiliah!
