According to TMZ (lol!) approximately 55 percent of American adults do not have a will or other estate plan in place, according to LexisNexis. This number has stayed relatively steady during the 2000s, even as the number of other estate planning documents Americans have -- like medical directives -- has increased. Among minorities, the numbers are higher than in the general population: 68 percent of black adults and 74 percent of Hispanic adults do not have one.
Prince was in the majority on this one.
Yeah but like I don't have a will cuz I don't have anything. You know, I'm not sitting on a vault full of music, multiple properties, or anything that's worth anything really. I have beneficiaries listed for insurance and stuff but beyond that- they can fight over my books and CDs. It just seems weird that someone who actually has something wouldn't work it out- Prince or not.
Prince didn't believe in contracts. He didn't like signing things. If I recall correctly, he didn't sign a contract for the Vegas shows. The UK shows. The Super Bowl.
It isn't surprising. At all.
Plus, he probably figured he'd have plenty of time to do that. He was only 57.
Not surprising. At all.

When he passed away in April, I think it was a week or two after that, there was roughly 700 claims of heirs, everything from siblings and half-siblings. There were many claims of children he fathered because he was this major man-whore. It just gets to be too much after a while! As far as having children, if he wanted them, wouldn't he have adopted if he couldn't have them with either of his spouses/serious girlfriends? Where were all these people before he passed away? If he was a father, he was robbed of the opportunity to be one. I get upset when all these people come out of the woodworks! You can tell it's all about getting the money had and getting their mitts on his estate.
I hope with everything I have that the just honor and respect the man, the talent and the creative genius that he was. It's not like there is going to be another Prince or anyone that can come as close! |

You don't need to be rich to have a need for a Will. It is for your loved ones, so they can settle your estate without a lot of expense. Do you have life insurance? Car insurance? Then you need a Will. RIP Prince. We will NEVER forget you. Thank you so much.

If my next of kin gets everything- what do I need one for? I'm not trying to be dumb or whatever- I know I SHOULD have one, but I think that's the reason people don't have them. I know it makes things easier to settle. I tried to make an appointment with an estate planner- 300.00 just to talk to someone on the phone for a consult. Thats not easy to come up with. Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick. |

How easy is it going to be for your next of kin to come with the money needed to settle your estate (and that includes your burial)??
RIP Prince. We will NEVER forget you. Thank you so much.

Norman Yates Carthens has filed documents with a probate court claiming the 'Purple Rain' star - who passed away in April, aged 57 - adopted him and says there is a will that will prove his links.
He claims Prince left him as much as $7 million of his estate, but Norman has been unable to tell officials where the will is right now.
Similarly, Regina Sorenson has filed documents with the court claiming to be a half-sibling of the legendary singer-songwriter, according to gossip website TMZ.

Next Norman?! This is too funny. Next thing you know there's stories going around of Prince being stabbed in the shower: "Mother mother, blood blood". Come on, seriously: this is people trying to earn their pathetic 15 minutes of fame. The internet is full of them. Gold diggers and money grabbers. Give it some time and those kind of people with shut their mouths, going on to the next celebrity that passes away. 'Liberate My Mind' |
