Believe nothing but what Prince himself said Hopefully we will all find out about the truth in due time. Until then, Prince is who you've known him to be before this past March. If he didn't share something with us directly via songs, interviews, social media, etc...., then it's questionable, moreso after March and April, with reports floading left and right with he said/she said... I get what you're saying but to be honest something in this statement is making me feel extremely uncomfortable. [Edited 6/5/16 23:22pm]

Or just take of your "pretty" glasses and realise that everyone, no matter their achievements and status, is still human.

It may be worth noting that not everything Prince said in song was true. He sang about his Dad blowing his head off with a shotgun and also about fucking his sister. RIP

And not everything he said in interviews - which is information coming "straight from the source" - is true either. He's been known lie and contradict himself on occasion! In a lot of ways I like that he remains a bit of an enigma.

In a lot of ways I like that he remains a bit of an enigma. Yes it is true that he chose what information to share and when to do so, like we all do sometimes, just like we have contradicted ourselves at times, and may have lied, in the past. I know I have. In more recent times, what he shared about himself was genuine, insightful, timely and with a purpose. With time things, people and situations can evolve and I believe that it did for Prince. It would be better that truth, fallacies, and everything else about Prince or anyone else, come directly from them. [Edited 6/6/16 1:09am]

[Edited 6/5/16 23:22pm] Everything surrounding his passing is extremely uncomfortable he was definitely right to say the same in 1995 about getting the accurate information about him directly from him. i'm not comfortable with the seemingly implied believing on him mentality, that to me crosses way over a lot of lines. A few thing have been popping up that cross those lines for me. Time to back away from this. Most people are shocked by what caused Prince's death because of what he has implied or inferred that his system was chemical/drug free, It wasn't. And he's never implied he has had any type of problem like this. So while I can understand the reasons why he ay have hidden things and even accept them to a point, I can't join the blind and deaf committee. I'm going to look at all the evidence presented and make a decision from that. Personally, I've never ever have bought into everything he's said because of the nature of the game.

What are you people so worked up about? The man was in pain, he took medicine. We got our tox results, apprarently he was in more pain than we thought, so he took a bit too much this time.
We've seen lots of reports prior and after the results, everyone is doing their jobs, whether they are good or bad its what the tabloids do. And why would you even care whats said about him? Prince didn't care while he was alive and sure as hell he didn't care whats going to happen after his passing. Get over it.

With Prince's habit for misleading with his comments (outright lying at times), I'd say believe nothing - ESPECIALLY what Prince himself said.

Prince lied a lot. | |

I generally just believe what resonates with me and makes sense. I loved his music and I can't even pretend to have known him, regardless of what the media or Prince himself said. His music hit my core, and that is what matters to me. As long as he wasn't a pedophile/murderer/whatever, none of the rest matters to me. He was human. Humans make mistakes, humans get diseases (not saying he had a disease), humans suffer with pain and most humans will always try to project a better picture of themselves than what goes on inside. Prince was in the public eye and every 'flaw' was going to be dissected and disseminated. Imagine how awful that would be for anyone, let alone someone that so desperately craved privacy. Anyway, what I believe is that Prince needed help, but chose to hide his issues instead of getting the help he needed (because there are cameras everywhere.).

Idk. in a 1990 Prince interview he said he did not fire Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, he never retracted that statement. He said 'It was Morris band'

So basically all one can do is use their own common sense in figuring out what's the truth regardless of the source.

Prince's story belongs to Prince; it was for him to tell it as he saw fit. He publicly urged us not to not repeat the same mistakes that he made, which tells a lot on the man himself and his ability to evolve in a positive way. He wasn't the same, and he was getting even better with time as a person. At times we've all lied in the past/present, and we've all said the truth too. I choose to believe what he said to be his true reality in recent years (esp. 2015 onwards). This kind of respect too, he deserves.

His legacy is partially in our hands and he does deserve respect I agree he was evolving to be a better person not perfect but better and although many of us still miss the ultra sexy and ultra daring side of ourman he had mellowed and matured like fine wine Hats off and much respect given

Refresh my memory? What song does prince state his father blowing his head off? Separate from the purple rain storyline. I recall sister on dirty mind but don't recall the other? Even in interviews that he gave, he wasn't always truthful, said what he wanted us to believe, whether true or not. I think he just wanted things to look his version of perfect. admission is easy, just say U believe, then come 2 this place in your heart.
