A new article by production secretary Maureen Herman
https://i2.wp.com/media.boingboing.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/prince-1.jpg?w=1200
I know that there has been some speculation or question about the hip surgery. This is what she wrote;
"I can’t help but fast forward now to the ensuing decades of performance and the toll it obviously took on his body, leading to his double hip replacement surgery in 2010. The surgery failed to relieve his pain, and so his long-term chronic pain treatment began."

That was a great article. The author also seems to state as fact or common knowledge that Prince DID have hip replacement surgery in 2010 and it didnt alleviate his pain. There was another article posted on this site which claimed he had the surgery but exerted himself onstage afterward to the point of re-injuring himself n leaving him in pain once again..
"It’s not like some people get addicted to these drugs and others don’t. Anyone taking them for longer than a few days becomes physically dependent on these drugs. That, right now, is the best the medical community has to offer for chronic pain management" "To me, addiction-shaming is akin to rape victim-shaming. Both inhibit disclosure, reporting, and ultimately, getting help. ". "Every derogatory comment made about Prince for his chronic pain and addiction is like another nail in his coffin, or the next friend, or the next brother, or sister, or son, or daughter." [Edited 6/5/16 23:16pm] "Almost all art is trying to become an anaesthetic and at the same time a healing session drawing up the magical electrics.”

He only had one scar according to that report, so it wasnt a double replacement. But the story could still be valid.

However, from the report, he only had one scar on his hip (which seemed to be there in the 80's) so I don't know how they managed to get in to replace these hips! Oh, what a tangled web we weave

Wasn't the 'scar' from the 80s a gold chain?

If this person last saw Prince in 1990, how on earth would she be able to provide any credible info on whether he had hip surgery in 2010? This is not music, this is a trip
No, it's not a drug, it's something more hip Don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine Purple music does the same to my brain

How in the world could he have had a double hip replacement if the medical examiners report says he had ONE scar on his left hip? That does not sound correct. He was suffering from some type of horrible pain. And it appeared to be his hips or knees. He was walking with a cane. And toward the end of his life, when did you see him at concerts dancing and and jumping off pianos etc? Never! I WISH YOU LOVE, I WISH YOU HEAVEN SWEET PRINCE...

She had last seen HIM, but it's definitely ann industry where everyone knows everyone somwhere down the line, so i wouldnt be surprised if a mutal acquaintance mentioned the surgery to her. Perhaps at one point he had considered a double replacement and then for whatever reason opted to only do one side. What I want to know is, yes Prince was goin to be treated for drug addiction. However were there alternatives to his pain management? Were there equivalents to the relief he was using? God if not Id personally rather be gone!

You know, I wonder if he ever had laser therapy. I've used it on animals before, and seen somewhat mixed results, not gonna lie. Some it helped, some it didn't. I've tried it on my back, and it did me little good, honestly, but it did turn down the pain a couple notches.
But still, I wonder if it might have given him a bit of relief over time. It doesn't replace painkillers, though -- it was used in addition to, and often the pet could take less medicine over time.

Don't lamblast me but all I've got in my head is an image of prince on the second dust cover of 1999 with the venetian blinds. God I love Prince !"

Don't they do one at a time? If it didn't help or even made matters worse that would explain why he had only one even if two were planned?
Great article. Made me cry all over again. But good and necessary message. [Edited 6/6/16 6:35am]

Medical technology is pretty amazing these days, compared to even 20 years ago. More and more procedures are less invasive (not all, obviously).

I was thinking the same thing, Rebeljuice. That does not add up. Welcome home class. We've come a long way. - RIP Prince

-- What the fuck difference does it make what sort of hip procedure he had!!! He had a fucking procedure concerning his lower legs and it is just a weird coincidence that rumors go back 10 years concerning his hips. I kind of hope his family never puts out any information about his health issues nobody should have to prove that he was in pain to pacify noisy fans and social media vultures.

[Edited 6/6/16 10:10am] Nah, Laura is right though. Whether he had a procedure or not. Something serious was wrong and being tthat the rumors re his hips are nothing new and being that painkillers are what got him we can intelligently assume that its all related. anything more is really none of our business. the important details are public. honestly i was pretty disturbed that mj's full autopsy report was leaked. it was unecessary and STILL did no good in regards to certain rumours. people will think what they want. mj's autopsy confirmed for example that he did have vitiligo (and i believe lupus). but that's not stopping the folk who still believe he messed around with his skin for the purpose of "being" white. --- This is exactly what is stated on the report. Scar, left hip,Scar, right lower leg. I have a surgical scar they are scars not scratches or marks but scars. The report would make not mention of it if it was significant. He did not have two hip replacements but it appears he had an additional procedure on his leg.
