I think this sums up Prince Rogers Nelson moreso than even "Prince."

Whatever one thinks of his various work, one thing he was above all was an artist; doing things no one else in the field of pop music would do; often at public derision or just outright bewilderment.

And this is what artists do.

One could make the argument that other musicians have sacrificed for their art but did any change their name to a symbol? No one before and no one since. A true originator in every sense.

He suffered like many a tortured artist.

He gave his all for his art.
