Can we just all agree this is one of the best funk jams of all time? I mean seriously...what even comes close to this in terms of funk, sex, energy and passion? It re-recoreded with George just made it that much more powerful.....such energy! Prince ....thanks for the party...

Hell, yeah! Especially the original long version. I can listen to this over and over and it never fails to get me up dancing. One of my all time favorites.

I like the DF era version the most, but I like the released version a lot too. The pairing of "We Can Funk" and "Joy In Repetition" on the GB album is one of the strongest song pairings on his albums.

well now...a 10 min version

A miracle just happened! I got off work and was listening to some Parliament...and then I took a chance and segued into my favorite 5 minute version of We Can Funk--and the song made me feel exactly how I used to feel when I heard it--made me get up and dance all around the room. It brought the joy back to listening to Prince. Amen!

Supposedly there's 8 versions floating around:

-The 1983 Demo Snippet

-Preliminary 86 cut with unmixed linn drums

-Sped Up 86 cut with mixed percussion and vocals

-Normal 86 cut with vocals that overtake the instruments

-A remixed version of the 1983 Demo without Clinton's parts

-A 10 minute version including George Clinton

-A remixed 8 minute version with added synths and guitars that is entirely George Clinton

-A re-remixed 8 and a half minute version with added scratches and leveled percussion including Prince's vocals
