The first group blindly defended Prince even when his actions were undefendable. And let's face it, he went way beyond protecting his copyrights. More than once he used bully tactics to shut people down who were not directly responsible for bootlegs. Not cool.

The second group is just sad. If someone truly hasn't enjoyed any of the music for 2 decades, then why the hell would they torture themselves by paying attention to it? For example, I love Beck's first 4 or 5 commecial albums, but I hate all the moody, emo, whiny crap he's put out the past decade. Do I go to beck.org everyday to complain or to tell all the fans that he sucks now? No. I just don't listen to the music I don't like. When he puts out an album I listen to it once and when I don't find anything I like that's it. Maybe one day he'll put out something I like, maybe he won't. Who cares, I'll be jamming to Midnite Vultures.

Just sayin', ignore the extremists whether they be trolls or not. I'd rather extremists be allowed to spew nonsense than to see censorship in the name of keeping things civil.

seemed that the trolls vastly outnumbered the syncophants and they weren't vile, I mean we had one on here that I joked with I said "prince could pee right on my head and you'd defend him". She didn't even get mad. Now, the trolls were just mean and petty, those are the ones that I haven't been seeing a whole lot on here.

Yes. Two extreme polarities. haters & sycophants. That's exactly what kept most of my posting to GD. Wished I'd of posted more in PM&M when I heard he was on here a lot, to add to the middle ground peeps more. The smart arseness put me off too.

Bruce Springsteen has some pretty critical fans, I really never, ever got the impression he gave much thought to them. Why would he? he has a family, all the riches he needs, plenty of adulation and accomplishements. Prince though, from what we're hearing, did watch this site and it's not like it's such an expansive site that he wouldn't have seen the negativity. I'm just glad I was mostly positive in the things I said and if I was critical it wasn't out of any kind of insane jealousy or wierdness.

My guess as to partly what happened in recent years is the trolls drove a lot of the reasoned, reasonable fans away. I've seen tons of people posting in the past few weeks saying they haven't posted here in years because of the toxic trolls. Schoolyard bullies all over the internet
