Acoustic guitar and a microphone In recent days I've seen a few videos of Prince performing acoustic songs/sets back in 2004. His mastery of music - timing, tempo, phrasing, harmony... is mesmerizing in this format! It is a pleasure to see/hear how adeptly he translates some more instrumentally complex songs using solely a guitar & his voice.
Has any acoustic material ever been released? Did he incorporate acoustic songs into his sets during any other tours? I'm looking for more things to listen to, 'cause I just can't get enough!

There's his album, "The Truth" that is acoustic (with overdubs and other studio flourishes in there). I also happen to love his acoustic demo for Alphabet Street, that was something I've been listening to a lot after I put it in a compilation for a friend in mid March. Besides that, I actually don't know if he had done much else acoustic material or if it's circulating. There's an acoustic demo for Thieves in the Temple that I remember finding years ago, and his rendition of Reflection he did with Wendy on TV is absolutely classic (though I'm sure you may have already seen that). I love that acoustic version of Little Red Corvette he did during the Musicology Tour and his cover of Sweet Thing is something I never grow tired of. There's also the track he did with 3rdEyeGirl that was streamed on Tidal when he first joined up there (I can't remember the name of it for the life of me, sorry) and there's also Tangerine from Rave, though that sounds like a midi guitar. I would've loved an actual acoustic take of that. Purple is the color of my heart,
Bruised from you leaving me.

his acoustic version of thieves in the temple puts the produced version to shame in my eyes. You could hear that the song came from an emotional wellspring. the produced version lost that. also, his falsetto was on point for that performance, maybe one of his best falsetto performances.

Does anyone has more info on that version? Love it, but I can't find anything about in at Princevault. (no unreleased versions mentioned)

Find the acoustic version of "Love" (he released it via the internet for a short period, so this isn't a bootleg). It's great, and it's really neat to see how Prince interpreted the song on an acoustic guitar versus how he produced it with a full band arrangement on "3121".

His guitar work in the background is so smart. I love the Amy Winehouse cover and the remake Oui Can Love.

I wasn't looking for the music, I have it, but info about date of recording etc. Princevault is pretty complete but this version is not mentioned I think.

Agree that the acoustic version of Love is worth seeking out. Also...he did an acoustic (or at least very stripped down) version of Guitar that is great. And the Space acoustic is (IMO) the best of that group. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
