In honour of the 32nd anniversary of Purple Rain, I am FINALLY going to ask it.

Do you think Prince ever got charged/fined for ACTUALLY graphitting that bridge?

Wonder if it's still there

1) you don't know that Prince actually did it (he didn't)

2) it's likely the set designer or similar did it

3) it'd be Production that was fined for it, not Prince (they weren't)

4) they could have just as easily had it removed had the city saw it & said something

And perhaps if the location is known, you could find out if it's still there. Much of Purple Rain was shot in Los Angeles, too, so that could be there, not Minneapolis.

How would you know that he didn't? Or maybe ...suggested it? He was adding Love God even to his autograph by now I think. Not to mention the early version of the symbol too...

That bridge is in LA the graffitti was removed. It is the Caesar Chavez bridge. Maybe someone should add it back just please leave the feather behind

I also, without sounding too harsh, would argue that a little bit of Graffiti on that bridge hardly affects the aesthetic of it. Possibly it even improved it. Funny that when we build concrete monstrosities or pollute the countryside that's fine, draw on a wall

It's just, we all know that that graphitti wasn't there before that movie filmed. Coincidences happen and all, but that would be next to improbable.

Me too! Being all 'I don't think this is in my job description...' I mean if he didn't do it himself like our uber knowledgeable friend stated, then SOMEONE on the PR crew had to and it's not like that person got the idea to tag THAT on their own. I'm guessing a little bird told them.

I'd be all over that. I mean, I have the 20th anniversary version. And the blu-ray. But I want some outtakes or deleted scenes - um maybe especially the deleted scenes.

I'm talking about the remastered album we were promised eons ago.

I'm willing to bet they got permission to do that, providing it was removed after -- which someone upthread said it was.

Cities are willing to let movie folks do some interesting things, as long as there's no real damage.

My thoughts too. Just one of those curiosities that pop into my head when I'm watching PR.

Like when Prince 'rescues' Apollonia from Morris' drunkeness and drives them along, that person sitting on the right side of the screen IN the rain, as they are driving to the underpass. Like, why isn't that person <possible homeless?) sitting beneath the UNDERPASS.
