Ultimate guitar album

I'm trying to put an album together of Prince's best guitar tracks for a friend who mainly listens to hard rock and metal. Here's a rough draft of what I have so far (in no particular order).

The ride
Bambi
The dreamer
The truth
Boom
Joy in repetition (live version)
Empty room
Electric chair
Purple rain
America
Crimson & clover

Any suggestions?
Baby, that was much too fast... 1958-2016

IMO, I Like It There, Guitar and Fury should replace most of the tracks on that list.

(Insert something clever here)

Throw "Habibi" in there. Straight out of the "Band Of Gypsys" book.

I made a guitarcentric mix for a friend recently, not because she's a hardrocklover biggrin necessarily, but just because the songs flowed together so nicely

*

Darling Nikki (Intro backmask played forward)

Wow

Dolphin (Undertaker version)

Paisley Park (remix)

The Whole of the Moon (Rally for Peace live)

Leititgo (Live from Paisely Park)

Purple House

Spanish Castle Magic (Montreux)

Honky Tonk Women (Undertaker)

Come (10,000 Wallpaper)

The Question of U (NPG Ahdio)

Something In The Water (3rd Eye Girl Rehearsal)

Octopus Heart

Revelation

Empty Room

Beautiful Strange (Rave In2 version)

Comeback

*

I could probably make another CD or 2

Some contenders would definitely be...

*

Fury (SNL)

Tick, Tick, Bang #1

U

When U Were Mine (One Night Alone)

The Ride

Vavavoom

DMSR (Small Club)

Let's Get Satisfied/I Got My Mind Made Up (Starlight)

Boomstratus

Dark

Computer Blue

She's Always In My Hair

Whole Lotta Love

Habibi

Endorphinmachine/She's Always in my Hair (3rd Eye Girl Rehearsal)

Just My Imagination (Small Club)

Johnny Be Goode/Anotherloverholeinyohead (Superbowl Press Conference)

Anotherlove

Plectrum Electrum

Scandalous (The Rapture)

*

I'm sure there are many more possibilities. Sometimes you have to look at songs that are not so obvious and mix it up some so it has some variety yet flows well together. Just my suggestions.

*

Odd, I'm putting in spaces, but it posts as one long list, irritating. I had to put a little * where the space bar separates

Building off your list (and this is going to challenge your friend's need for guitar in unconventional ways):

The Ride
Bambi

Let's Go Crazy
Dreamer
The Truth

Fury (SNL)

Whole Lotta Love (Aladdina DVD)

Honky Tonk Woman (The Undertaker)

Peach
Boom

Endorphinmachine
Joy In Repetition (live version)
Empty Room
Electric Chair
Purple Rain

The Question of U (any Steve Vai or Joe Satriani fan could even appreciate this)
Screwdriver

Rock N' Roll Is Alive

I'm Yours

Marz

AnotherLove (from PE)

The Morning Papers

Papa

Loose!

Computer Blue (find the full version)

The Cross

America

Crimson & Clover

Gold

Chaos and Disorder

Zanalee

Dolphin

Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad (Houston 81 is a good live version, too)

Temptation (hack off that corny ending though)

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

If you have access to "Just My Imagination" from the Small Club, that's an eargasmic must.

Also...

God (Instrumental)

Pink Cashmere

Yeah, drop "Crimson And Clover" from your list. Oh, is that bad.

.

You want a cover? Put "One Of Us" on there.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned "While my guitar gently weeps" from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

No one mentions "Witness 4 The Prosecution"?

"Hello"— I don't care if it's sped up, it's still brilliant.

"All The Critics Love U In New York" has some crazy shit going on.
"Positivity" too.

There are some brilliant guitar parts everywhere.
The coda of "Vicki Waiting", the telecaster on "Do Yourself A Favour",
not to mention the vocodered Troutman-like drone on "Shortberry Strawcake".
"Dear Michelangelo" is some landscape too.

Darn, so many.

SNL's Fury, yeah, definitely. As an appetizer.

Also, Miami '85 soundcheck?
Don't forget to show him some live performances.
He has to see Skipper's fingers fly over that fretboard.

Shhh (Coachella)
Most of Montreux 2009

It's interesting how he deciding to completely master the guitar after Rolling Stone left him off the Top 100 Guitarists list (WTF)

He was about to do the same thing with the piano.

That's a great list! Thank you! Unfortunately I lost a lot of those bootlegged songs because of a computer virus sad luckily I had some music backed up on a hard drive but not everything.
.
All the songs suggested really show what an incredibly diverse and exciting guitarist he was.

Love the guitar on Shhh. If I was going to include Crimson and Clover, I would probably use the version from Ellen DeGeneres' show.

The final minute of 777-9311 has blistering guitar work that I believe was done by Prince himself...
