My heart is still so full from that night. I was at the 7 pm show, marking the 13th time I would see Prince perform (including a particularly fortunate time I won an NPG Music Club drawing of tix to see him perform on The Tonight Show in 2002, where he performed an amazing "The Everlasting Now", featuring Sheila E.). I won't even detail the challenges faced scoring my tickets for the Atlanta concert...too much to type, but I fully acknowledged that I'd pay top dollar to be as close to the stage as possible for this concert. '85 ATL "Purple Rain" tour stops I stood in line for as a youngster, only to find they sold-out right before I reached the ticket window at the Turtle's "wrecka-stow" back in tha' day! Whew...that was drama and trauma for this then-awkward 14 year old who had finally discovered a brilliant, creative well-spring who showed that it is ok --- actually beautiful---to be different and to be comfortable in one's own skin...to be brave and not let others' judgements become barriers. The date of April 7th arrived, and as shared in your beautiful documentary, there was a palpable, eerie feeling on will-call day, only to hear that our man was ill and had to cancel. Like many, I was extremely concerned, thinking, "...but Prince never cancels..." While I was deeply saddened by the cancellation, my main concern was for his health to improve...so I was surprised when the shows were rescheduled for just two weeks after. The entire process seemed very fate-driven. I know now that this was indeed part of my fate --- a concert I'll always feel truly blessed to have experienced. I'll never forget the conversations with those I met or reconnected with in the will-call line, as well as those seated beside us at the show. The Prince family is beautiful through and through! So...April 21, 2016....just before 7 PM...under the beautiful Fox Theater "night sky". As attendees found their seats (I was Orchestra Pit, row EEE...YES!!!), there was GORGEOUS orchestral music from the "Memoirs of A Geisha" soundtrack (moving...stirring...now so sad for me to hear on the circulating audio recording), a solitary purple piano on the stage, glowing candles, a slight smell of incense in the air...kaleidoscopic designs on the stage backdrop greeting all as we walked into the theater. Another fragrance wafting through the theater...something intangible...vanilla, amber, lavender? Vector art was displayed on the stage backdrop, showing "The Many Faces Of Prince"...over 40 phases of his musical journey appeared (LOVE that art by Martin Homent), and I believe that backdrop faded to just the one showing Prince with his Third Eye open. Then, the lights dimmed to frame his unmistakeable silhouette, and the theater showered him with all of the love possible. He seemed very, very grateful to receive this love...but there was something in his face, his eyes, that made my heart ache. Now, I understand, but then...I felt like this performance was a journey coming full-circle, in all of the ways many have already stated here. He captivated from the moment he took the stage until well after the house lights came up, signaling the last encore was complete. The performance was masterful...my particular faves were "Joy In Repitition" and his cover of Joni's "A Case Of U"...after which he briefly left the stage, returned to the piano and said, "...sometimes I forget how emotional these songs are." I was already in tears at that point. Right before that last encore, some VERY fortunate folks were able to shake Prince's hand when he interacted with the audience. I have photos (one posted with details in the "Atlanta gallery of last show" thread, as well as some taken at the front of the stage with that gorgeous purple piano), and the night had a very specific feeling of magic. I'll never forget it, and I'm so grateful for the memories...and for what you've captured and shared here.

You've perfectly described that 7 pm show, thank you. I was there but in Loge section for the 7 pm show, orchestra for the 10 pm show. Even in the Loge section, we could smell the incense. There was magic present that night, though I was concerned about our man, too. I felt that it might have been too soon after having cancelled due to illness, but you could not tell that from his performance that night. And the two songs you mentioned were highlights for me from that 1st show, too. Truly beautiful what you've written. Thank you, again.

I wept watching it --overwhelmed again not only by the loss, but from the incredible love --love, deeply felt connection--Prince nurtured in people so evident in this story. Everyone. This documentary captures that depth ...People worldwide, at all levels, mention how profound an impact his ascension has made in their lives.

An editor in the audience during the Greenspace panel discussion raised the question--"we feel it, what is IT?" More than any other celebrity in recent times--it is as if all the sadness people feel cannot be contained any longer.

Perhaps it is a connection forged by his music together with his persona that is now fortified with the explosion of previously unseen videos and stories.

In one interview Prince did, and I've watched so many I'd have can't say which one now, he told the interviewer that "Music can do great things."

Those fortunate people who attended these last concerts of this "quantum genius" have a particular treasure. Thank you for creating this tribute.

oh man. just seconds before the 10 minute mark, the lady who recorded the last performance of Purple Rain had that tremble-shake-blurt crying thing. thats what happened to me every morning for weeks after we heard, I'd wake each day not feeling it was real then something would happen like hearing a particular song or seeing a new tribute and all I could do was cover my face from people cause I would be a mess.

What a beautiful documentary, I was so moved. I saw him at the Sydney Opera House in February and I understood the feelings of excitement from having seen this tour to the sorrow it was the last time & none of us knew it. YOur film was beautifully shot and I appreciate the people that took part in it and shared their thoughts too. None of us ever expected to have this conversation so soon.......

Made me cry. You have my vote to do a full-length documentary on Prince.
