They just arrested employees of a company that sells fentanyl. This particular form is only approved for cancer patients but only 1% of the doctors prescribing it are oncologists!!

Prince was 5' 3" and trim... many are commenting on his weight... Prince at his healthiest probably never weighed more than 130. He is small of stature, ALWAYS lean and fit, don't let the 112lbs fool you. For his size and body type the number is not as bad as some are making it seem. Still can't believe we will have to go through the remainder of our lives without him in it.

I check the BMI charts and Prince's weight was on the low end of normal for his height. But based on photos and TV appearances of the past couple of years, I'd say he was about 15 - 20 lbs heavier before and more toned. He definitely loss some weight towards the end, which was a sign that something was wrong.

Was thinking, what if taking Percocet for so long damaged his liver? And it was starting to fail? As a Jehovah's Witness, a liver transplant would not be an option.

I just wanted to say that I'm the same high as P and that' my ideal weight. A little more and I start looking chubby. He was a guy so I guess he was indeed a little underweight (which is visible from pics) but not like terribly underweight. He was even more thin during emancipation era.

We don't know how long he was taking Percocet or if even was taking it. It hasn't been confirmed.

In Portugal it's been estimated that three in ten people suffer from this, so it's pratically the same number wise.
These are awful statistics...

I suffer from chronic pain. I have had good doctors and I have had bad doctors that prescribe anything you can imagine. I have a good doctor at the moment, he is limited in what he will prescribe and I submit to drug testing. Doctor's do not know how to treat chronic pain. Plus taking optiods masks serious illnesses.

This, right there.
You are so right. My sister suffers from chronic pain (neck and back) and she knows it all started after surgery for an ovarian cyst that turned out to be cancer, so they had to perform an histerectomy. She also did 3 bouts of chemo and she feels that the pain might have started right after that. No doctor has managed to treat her for the chronic pain. She's done it all: physioteraphy, acupuncture, massages, she's seen a chyropractioner, the lot. No change. She's in constant pain and has to take a painkiller that is ibuprofen based. It's strong and she's so used to it it's not helping her anymore. I dread the day that she goes bac to her doctor and he perscribes her something more potent.

Amen. Your body becomes use to the amount you take and the drug will no longer work at a safe level. On the other hand you can be in so much pain you don't realize how much you have taken. I have been there too. The only advice I can give to someone would be know your limitations, be cautious in how much of a prescription you take and learn to live with some pain.

it used to be that you could go to your general family MD and get treated for everything, including various aches and pains. This is no longer the case. Now, due to changes in the federal laws, a medical specialty branch has broken off that they specifically call: Pain Management Doctors. In order to help my cousin, her doctor insisted that we get her one of these specialty doctors. She now sees her Pain Management Doctor once a month, he counts EVERY PILL, asks her questions, and adjusts her medications as needed.

If you know someone in chronic pain, I encourage you to get them to a "Pain Management Doctor" asap. A general MD just doesn't cut it anymore for this problem.

RIP Prince. We will NEVER forget you. Thank you so much.

Yes, first time I heard about pain management doctors was right here on the forum. Told my sister about it and she didn't know of it either. Not very common in Portugal, I guess, but we will be checking it out for sure. Thanks, guys.

At the end of the day as I have said countless times, we do not know the level of severity of his Pain, I saw that people were chiming on the Judith Hill letter that said he was not happy. Again we don't know we are not in his mind, but as many of us know, from being in pain whether its a headache or tootache or something more severe, are U happy when this is going on?? If he was in constant pain, that on top of getting older, I know we don't like to face it but he was getting older the body went through a lot for his gift. And again we dont know about surgeries he may or may not have had, all I do know is that I saw a few photos of him with Kirk Johnson from late last year just getting off a flight and Prince is holding a cane does not look like he did a year or two prior, so I know we debate this, but something was just not right, he was not well, be it the pain, or what he was taking or told to take, or even the procedures possibly done in place of a major surgery, remember he was a JW so he could not go certain routes.

Speaking of canes, I googled photos of Prince with a cane. I saw a number of occasions where he was carrying something that looked like a cane (sometimes a sword, never your stereotypical cane) BUT I never saw an instance where he was using it as a cane! So looked like it was more part of his outfit. Was he using something to help him walk? Maybe that is why his last tour was more sitting?

The cane from the photos I am referencing is not part of the show for sure, it's silver with that rubber tip at the end just like a doctor or hospital would give and his posture looks as if he can't stand straight

It's from the Hongkong Harbour Fest 2003. Probably taken before the show, but I don't know exactly.

The arrests of two former pharmaceutical salesmen for allegedly paying doctors to prescribe fentanyl, the powerful painkiller that caused pop singer Prince’s fatal overdose, drew a strong reaction from law enforcement and other doctors, who note that pharmaceutical companies have aggressively marketed risky and addictive painkillers in recent years and have paid more than $1 billion to settle charges of illegal marketing.
