I had no idea that this was professionally filmed until today! Was this for Japanese TV? It's a stunning show which really should see official release hopefully, at some point.

I don't think there is a professional filmed one out there anywhere so not sure what person above is talking about.

Too many sudden cutaway/close-up shots for it to be an audience filmed show.

It IS an audience film show - the person filming it is filming the video screen next to the stage.

I stand corrected. I think I may be dealing with a negative IQ today.

Hopefully when The Vault is opened we'll get to see some of the video screen footage that has been recorded over the years.

Seems to contrdict the tale that's been told for years that he smashed his guitar up at the end of the show in an 'end of the Revolution' symbolic act.

Instead he chucks it down, gets another and chucks that one down too! One YouTube commenter says this was because the strings broke, which suggests the truth was a bit less dramatic than the myth.

As he'd throw his cloud and symbol guitars down like this in the 90s, does this mean the story was embellished and became Prince folklore?

Yes it's been around for 20 or 30 years. I had it on VHS long ago.

What's the quality like? The Databank website's listing for this show said that the video was in pretty poor quality, would be amazing (although very unlikely) if this was a new source, here's what he said:

"This is such frustrating viewing. This concert is the final show of Prince & The Revolution, so I guess it was asking a little too much for it to be in fantastic quality. Actually, if it was in good quality I wouldn't complain. Unfortunately, it is neither - which is quite saddening. It has been filmed by an audience member from the back of the stadium, quite high up and to the right hand side of the stage. The person filming concentrates on the stage for the first 25 minutes, however it is quite difficult to make out what is happening due to a mixture of the lighting, and the poor picture quality. They then film the giant video screen for the (near) duration of the show - with much improved results. The picture quality is still below average, however there are some nice moments. There are a few drop-out in the picture also. The beginning is missing, and during the show there are a few cuts - most annoyingly 'Kiss' is gone and 'Sometimes It Snows' is audio only - boo fucking hoo. It goes without saying that the show is one of (if not the) best of the Parade shows. The performance is amazing, and the set-list features some very rarely performed tracks, most notably during the piano segment (Do U Lie? / The Ladder). Watching Prince's emotions bubble over on 'Purple Rain' and smash two guitars down onto the stage isn't an everyday occurrence and it's fascinating viewing. If this had been any other show, I would dismiss it - however as it is the final Revolution concert it deserves a special place - no matter how poor the quality."
