Hello everyone! I created this account last year but never have posted until now, I just had a question!

I have been listening to the 12 inch extended versions of Mountains, Hot Thing, Erotic City, etc. and I am curious, are these the original versions of the songs and the shorter album versions just edited down versions from these? Or are the 12 inch versions simply taking the album versions and messing around with them to create an extended mix?

Sorry if this is a novice question, I did a quick search and couldn't find an answer so I figured I would post my question on here. Thanks!

Some 12" versions are full length versions (or less edited down anyway), some have pieces added later to extend it, some are a bit of both, some are entirely new songs over roughly the same music. So pretty much yes to all the above. It's usually fairly obvious based on listening to them which is which. Welcome to the org btw!
