Opiate

I've seen this track title listed on a site somewhere and it turns out the track is actually 'What's my name'.

.

Anybody know the reason behind this fake track title? I see no reason to misname a track as it's not mentioned in the lyrics or anything.

.

Thanks

I've never seen "What's My Name" referred to as "Opiate."

Perhaps you'd like to post a link to the 'site somewhere' that calls it this.

With that said, when his demos/outtakes began circulating, many of them were given names (by non-Prince fans/bootleggers) that had nothing to do with the actual song name. I am guessing that's what is happening here -- if it actually happened at all.

Someone told me he has an early 80s song in the vault called opiate. I haven't looked too hard for it but it must be fairly easy to find cuz she's not really what I would consider a super fan, computer research whiz, or anything.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

It was actually on YouTube and didn't want to break any Org guidelines by putting a link here. It's listed as part of an album and isn't listed as a separate searchable track if see what I mean.

.

Again, happy to provide a link - but wouldn't want to break any rules or bring any heat.

.

Thanks

I'd find that easier to believe if it was on princevault or in Per Nilsen's book "The Vault."

Problem is trying to use google and the words Prince and opiate. If there is a song it is hidden amongst all the news stories and gossip that comes up in the search results.

Don't need to provide a link. See what I said about songs being mistitled by bootleggers. There are currently two threads now on the first page about bootleggers mistitling tracks, not knowing where concerts were recorded, etc.
