Just watched SOTT again, and it was soooo uplifting until the end credits.

No way I'm going to listen to 'The Truth' or the tracks towards the end. I thought about 'Comeback' the other day, and well, there's just no way.

.

What a horrible loss, it's just such a blow. So many lyrics meanings have changed now. From all over his career. It's weird I can't hear these songs in the way i did before.

.

I thought i was doing better too.

I've found myself digging through my cd's lately, the guitar solo parts really get me. Whenever Prince started letting loose on the guitar it was almost like he was channeling something, the only other artists I've felt that way about was Stevie Ray Vaughn. Prince would break into a solo and it's almost as if he reached out and touched your soul...

This was an interesting post on this subject from 2006. How I wish I could click on the lamps. Hungry for his knowledge...

"

Actually if you review the Knowledge Section of the NPGMC website, it explains in great detail what he meant by "the dawn". It is somewhat buried in the website, but if you take the time you can find it. First Click on the "knowledge- a library of inspiration" icon. Once that opens up you will find several lamps (lights of knowledge) displaying where in biblical scripture one can find information on certain subjects. But there's more to the site than it seems. I got curious after reviewing all the lamps and went to the wall on the right of the screen. Click on the "stacks" of books on the right side and it will take you to a closer view of the lamps. In this section you will find detailed and thought provoking messages from NPGMC/Prince. There are about 12 different lamps to click on for deeper understanding of Prince and his thoughts on the music industry etc. In these stacks you will find the meaning of "the dawn".

The following was a post from Prince's Love4oneanother site back in 1998:

The 'ism' b hind a symbol

B careful...
Do u ever think about what u b lieve, or do u b lieve whatever bcuz some1 else thinks? What if some1 changed the story long ago...what if some1 lied about the manner in which some1 died?

Early versions of the Gospels (the New Testament books containing accounts of Jesus' death) were written in Greek. These manuscripts say he was xecuted upon a "stauros." The most common definition of the word, according 2 Greek dictionaries and Strong's Concordance (a reference book 4 Biblical word origins), means "a stake, especially a pointed one, often used 4 torture." Death on a stake, sometimes by impalement, other times by hanging or nailing, was a common 4m of Roman capital punishment in Jesus' day. While crucifixions happened in some cultures, the New Testament and other historical accounts tell of his death by stauros, yet not of a perpendicular beam that would have 4med a cross shape.

So y 2day a cross? The symbol has been used thruout the ages by many cultures 2 depict many different gods... it didn't appear as a Christian holy symbol until the third century AD, and even then some churches condemned the idea bcuz they said it had pagan origins. Depiction of Christ's body upon the cross didn't appear 4 another 4 centuries after that!

Perhaps some1, still worshipping the cross 4 its representation of other religions' gods, thought it would b a good worshipful representation of a son of God as well. As their beliefs changed, so did the meaning of the cross until people 4got the pre-history of the story and accepted the symbol as a Christian idol.

We r not ndorsing one religion over another...spirituality needs no such labels. We r merely urging one 2 inspect the ideals that result in idolatry... dive in a little deeper, c what lies within the seenery. What do worshipped symbols really stand 4? Is it the cross that's important, or the Christ?

Well that clears up why the cross became the christ. i wasnt around in the love4oneanother days so i just remembebbr seeing clips of him changing the song and thinking wtf - that's awkward.

Great! Thank you!

...

Here is it Sunday. If Prince had lived through 4-21, you can bet he'd have been in church this morning.

...

Church-going Prince fans - I sure wish we could round up his spiritual writings. Nice after-church reads. Hey TheQuest, got any more? Know where to get more? I love it.

Hello. How r u? I'm fine. Cuz I know that the Lord is coming soon. Coming, coming soon.

I wish we could compile his writing and musings somewhere. Not just bits and pieces followed up with someelse's opinions on them, just them so that the reader could make their own decisions in their own time.

You're right. His trancendent spirituality... his fire, his ability to put dreams/ideology into motion... so much action starts with words. I wish there was more of his writing to read.
