What's the better dance track for the clubs.... Sleep Around or Love?

I've always loved both of these songs and I'm making a compilation album for a friend who likes Prince but isn't a hardcore fan. She loves house beats and dance music in general, so I have put together an album of his more dance-orientated material (New World, Loose, The Human Body, Rave In2, FunkNRoll Joshua mix etc) and I have one space left on the disc.... what song should I pick? Sleep Around or Love?

Sleep Around is a better track imho (and sounds GREAT in a club on a big system, I used to use it a lot to warm up/soundcheck in my DJ days), but in the context of what you're asking, I'd say Love would likley be the better choice. cool

I will give a vote for Love, if only because I think Sleep Around sounds like a George Michael reject from the 90's.

My advice is take off Rave in2, have both Sleep Around and Love.

Hope you got 'Controversy', 'D.M.S.R' and 'Erotic City' somewhere on there too. Just give her them and say "that shit you listen to? well, it was way better before. Here's the greatest maxi single ever!" lol

cool

Sleep Around would have been a perfect first single from Emancipation

I will say I don't think Sleep Around has aged well at all, whereas Love sounds like it could've been released this year and it would still sound fresh.

I made my friends CD. She only really knows a few of his biggest hits, but as I said before, she loves dance music, so here's what I made in the end for her:

1. Erotic City

2. The Future

3. Sleep Around

4. The Human Body

5. Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic

6. FunkNRoll (AOA version)

7. Loose

8. Dirty Mind

9. Strange But True

10. New World

11. Mr Nelson

12. Art Official Cage

She absolutely loves Mr Nelson, Rave In2 and The Human Body apparently.

Nice mix. How about Shut This Down? For some reason I could always picture this being a hit in the clubs. I think Prince would play it sometimes when he would take over the turntables at Paisley Park after dark parties.

Nice selections! Other songs that could've worked: Hello 12", DMSR, Fall In Luv 2nite, Lets Pretend We're Married, Ain't About 2 Stop, X's Face, Trust, I Wanna Melt With U.

Is it worth checking out? I always just figured that EP was just a bunch of remixes? Is it actually a whole other song?
