The two you mentioned as well as Sexy Dancer. Funny and embarrassing thing--when I first heard I Wanna Be Your Lover on the radio when it first came out, I thought it was Sylvester singing...

I love 70s disco Prince! I always think of his self titled as his disco album and def one of my fav P records for sure (though I'd say For You is a pretty disco record too).

I always thought "Do It All Night" and "I Wanna Be Your Lover" had some disco influences.

But he also said in "All the Critics..." that "it's time for jazz to die..." We see (or hear) how that worked out.

His first two albums were disco. Dirty Mind was funk with a rock edge. Then he basically did more synth rock pop soul funk avant lovely.

I was at my local wrecka stow on Saturday and the manager played some tracks from a new album called Funky Disco Tracks of Cloud One. It features tracks by Patrick Adams, who played keys for a LOT of disco hits in the last 70s. There was one, in particular, that totally reminded me of Prince's Jelly Jam.

Lots of disco on For You and Prince.

Im a huge Sylvester fan!!..got all his album's...I suppose its only the falsetto that makes them sound similiar....even tho Prince is a better "Artist" all round....Sylvester "falsetto" is much better, more powerfull and stronger...but that's due to his Gospel upbringing....

what album would you recommend to a Sylvester newbie (apart from a Best Of collection I presume is in existence too)

Now, you see no one is ever too old to learn something new. I never new this...and I've been around for quite a while.

well I am from Liverpool (like The Beatle's)...so to us it's common knowledge, .....kinda like i Never knew what the song "Head" by P was about till many years later...but im sure in Minneapolis...It's common knowledge

Paul McCartney met two of the women who helped inspire the Beatles' White Album classic "Blackbird" backstage at his Little Rock, Arkansas concert Saturday night.

The women, Thelma Mothershed Wair and Elizabeth Eckford, were two members of the Little Rock Nine, a group of nine black students who faced discrimination and the lasting impact of segregation after enrolling in the all-white Little Rock Central High School in 1957, following the Supreme Court's historic Brown vs. the Board of Education decision.
