It's funny. Was just watching the film the other day. I thought he just had too much to drink and the alcohol was making him have a nightmare or something. Like if he did not get his head on straight, he was going to lose the rich white woman and end up with this fat Jamaican woman.

Interesting how the audience member who is an attorney brought up the appointed trust allowing DNA tests on random individuals. Cited Barry White's estate and said they did not allow anyone who was not recognized before his death as an heir null and void. She seemed to think P's administrators are amateurs. I hope not. Nothing more depressing than piss poor legal teams... I thought it seemed a bit odd - they are even running ads in Louisiana papers for relations there. I thought that was a bit much. Barry White wasn't from Minnesota though was he so maybe it's just the way the law is there. [Edited 6/1/16 19:28pm] Surprise, surprise.

Interesting that you thought it represented his mom..I think with Christopher being drunk and seeing her freaked him out..Maybe she was someone he forgot he had a rendevous with?...It's funny because years later P asked Mel B. (in that interview) why was she labeled the "scary" one when there was nothing scary about her. I kind of saw where he was going with that, but he didn't go into it too deep. Yeah I thought maybe he was feeling guilty for being such a player and saw his mamma like you better knock it off! Definitely a dream or drunken blur. Maybe it was someone else he had been with and he just saw his mamma. I don't know how I came up with that. Good point about Scary Spice. Never thought about it that way. I wasn't into them but I thought she was just a wild one. Interesting subtext. He was very sharp. I bet there's a lot more to that conversation... I just googled to see when the band split and this came up. She owned that name- http://abcnews.go.com/Ent...d=25594639 But I guess it's scary in general for a girl to be loud and opinionated I get what you mean though. Surprise, surprise.

Probably Louisiana bambulance chasers running those ads trying to get a piece of the action. They love to litigate and all 4 of Prince's grandparents were from here. 100+ people can claim dibs on property via "forced estate".
Also loved the video of Miles Davis talking about Prince having 4 influences - James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye and Charlie Chaplin. Pretty much sums it up along with straight up shaman - takes one to know one.

Really enjoyed watching this! Even recognized a personal friend asking one of the audience questions.
Man, it was great when Greg Tate shut Toure *down* within the first five minutes. That set the tone that the event was going to be something better and deeper than the kind of repetitive hagiography that Toure is always pimpin.

Always enjoyed reading Greg Tate's commentary in The Voice. He hits it right on the head...One thing that hit home for me was Vernon's take on the unreleased music. He said;"Imagine what our reactions are going to be once that music is released?...There could be another "W.D.C" & "Purple Rain" and other hits that we've never heard..That's when we're going to realize that he's gone".

Agree with the Toure comments. He was born on TV news when MJ died and they needed a body. Notice his body language too. Had his back to Vernon Reid the entire time. [Edited 6/2/16 13:01pm] Brand new boogie without the hero.
